Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

100% bust

This is exactly what happens when you rely on fancy stats instead of actually scouting.

I stated his high end was Adam Creighton and he isn’t even that.

Once again, I’m right

Telling that to your sock puppet does not count.

the fancy stats probably said take the two way ppg defenseman that skates like the wind, not the barely ppg center that had a good first rd when colliton and bowman were in the stands, kirby pick is more like when traditional scouting fails

Seeing what Zegras is doing and the skill he is displaying makes the Dach pick borderline depressing.

Haven’t seen Dach do any skill moves since his rookie season and now he is pretty much just in highlights by other players (that Cale Makar goal, getting laid out, etc).

I find it hilarious that Nylander is a bust when at 21 he was a better player then Dach.

But…..Dach needs more time to develop or something…..

Like f*** he was a better player. Nylander was a slacker (with some talent) who never learned to play the game properly.
The biggest thing Dach needs is a tough-love, knowledgeable coach. He plays like a lost soul with no confidence after being rushed into the league. But you guys are too harsh in assessing him. It's not his fault that dumb dumb Stan picked him 3rd overall when every scout outside of Chicago had him rated quite a bit lower on their lists.

Dach shows spurts of being elite . To me he's immature and needs a kick in the pants, he and Colton could one day be keys pieces here ,we need a COACH !!

If only Dach were mentored by Bill Peter, Glen Gulutzan or D J Smith instead of Colliton or King. C'mon guys, it's on Dach to found his way out of his rear end.

I do think people always give high prospects longer leashes, but the bottom line is that he's played almost 150 games now. Can he get there? Sure. But he isn't that sure thing that people thought he might be.

He needs a coach which is half of it. The other half is on Kirby to be honest. He needs to make significant strides next year or else i would consider him a semi busy on his way to a bust.

Nothing instills confidence in a young player more than saddling him with a couple of 4th liners and throwing him out against McDavid in the D-zone.

Zegras: 83% offensive zone starts. Kirby Dach: 56%.

Why does Zegras have confidence? Because he's been put into positions to build confidence the entire season. They start on the attack almost every shift.

Patrick Kane is at 87% offensive zone starts, by the way. I'm not sure there's a higher everyday player in the entire league. Strome, 78%.

This team's culture is completely f***ed. Your veteran guys should be taking tougher matchups, which should give your inexperienced players easier matchups. It's the exact f***ing opposite in Chicago.

Kane, Strome, Gus, and guys that play like them need to be shipped the f*** out.

I'm tired of all the Zegras this and that. That hot dog shit won't work in tough playoff games. If i wanted to see that go watch Zac Bell on Tik Tok who has way better hands.

Except his skill doesn't just allow him to pull off lacrosse goals. It opens up the entire ice for him. Because he has the skill, and confidence, to f***ing embarrass you any time you're on the ice. So guys play more conservatively against him.

Zac Bell would have a zero percent chance of ever doing that in an NHL game. NA3HL is absolute dogshit hockey.

It wasn’t about Bell being in the NHL its a shot at the ohs and ahs over a lacrosse goal. Who gives a shit. He may embarrass a few players with that and will likely get planted on his ass for it too. Could end up another Drouin

Among hockey people, it really has nothing to do with it being a lacrosse goal. It's the skill, confidence, and awareness required to do that at the highest level in the world. Not only that, but it's just a small part of his game. He produces everywhere he goes and I don't see that changing.

You and hockey people could be right. I remember watching both Drouin and Mackinnon play in junior and some thought Drouin was better as he had that same skill and I knew they were nuts.

Well, if going on statistical evidence Nylander has Dach beat in everything but assists which they are tied. And everything you can say about Dach needing a decent coach can apply to Nylander along with all the other tropes thrown out.

The point is, Nylander is a bust at 22, but was better then Dach at 21.

Again, I say that's BS.

It's just another example of people using offensive stats to rate a player. If Dach was as weak as Nylander was defensively he'd be buried in the AHL (just like Nylander).
