Which of the young prospects stood out to you?
Zellers was immediately the most shocking. That’s not to say there isn’t a lot of work to do and I have to take into account his level of competition. But when his name was announced, I had muted expectations. And he is like watching fireworks.

Misyul my expectations were even less. Whatever. And I was wrong. He may never make it (he still seems thin), but I was very impressed. My buddy asked me for who he reminded me of. I said he looks like if Sean O’Donnell traded his bear strength for effortlessly smooth skating and agility. He moves so well and takes up so much room in the defensive zone… and hits like Connor Clifton. A guy who I thought was a disposable asset is actually someone I have hopes for.

Khusnutdinov? I couldn’t find a real positive. Seems like a guy who tries really hard I suppose. Initial reaction? Dud.

Minten I had the most hopes for and spent probably the most time with. Shift by shift breakdowns, highlight reels, articles… and I was already familiar with him. He exceeds my initial positivity. I imagine him and Poitras getting along like gangbusters and frustrating oppositions in the middle six. Early as next season. He needs to play with other smart players. He is a real gem.

Wanner I have yet to spend time with.

Add a top ten pick to our revamped prospect pool and another couple of seconds this year? We’re gonna see which team is the worst ranked prospect pool. We’re gonna be top half of the league very soon.

I've always liked Mittlestadt dating back to his world junior days an incredible talent having a down year with the lanche.

This trade was high way robbery by Sweeney, besides Mittlestadt, he gets a player who's tearing it up in the USHL and if the draft was a re-do he'd surely be a first rounder or early 2nd, then throw in the 2nd rounder in 2025 Very well done by Sween's, so much so posters on the Avs board are still waiting for the return that came with Coyle.

He made some very nice passes. Really high IQ. Like that pass on the Koepke goal, he drew the D and then laid it out in front of Koepke. He had a couple shifts in the second where he was just making play after play.

His rush, where he held it and crossed the D would have been filthy if he had gotten the shot off. Definitely some shades of Krejci the way he processes and makes plays into the eddy of the flow, as Jack would say.

It also caught my attention how good he was at catching passes. Long, hard passes to his backhand he caught without a misstep. That has been a skill sorely lacking this season.

That's the thing with CM, all the tools are there to be a very good NHL player. He just hasn't consistently delivered on that promise

I wonder if they have a plan to unlock it.

Interesting side note. I remember Mittelstadt dominating the world juniors so I looked up that team and there are lots of current / former Bruins on it...

Mittelstadt, Frederic, Peeke, Tufte, Jones, Lindgren and Swayman.

Good call pointing out his effort. He had some flat out sprint back checks that were really nice to see.
That is what concerns me is that the take on him is lack of consistent effort. I do agree that I thought he looked good, but, when I hear those comments, I am concerned and aware. I hope he works out but iwas against him but hopefully he changes my thoughts.

Thought is was really funny reading the Av’s board at the time the trade was made. Posters kept saying, hoping there’s got to be more than Coyle coming back. Some thought the GM was fleeced.
