Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

Well said. Personal attacks have become the norm for some which leads to some folks reluctant to express their views - hence more useless bickering and less hockey talk. It gets tiring.
You’re guilty of personal attacks as well, I’ve pointed them out to you.

We can all absolutely be better about it though.

I think it’s fine to scale down expectations for Dach. If he does eventually reach a #1C ceiling, that’s obviously awesome, but I think it’s fair to stop expecting it until we see it.

My expectations for him are to be a fine top-6 two-way center/wing.

I think dreams of Getzlaf, Kopitar, Toews, etc are more fantasy than reality. I also think the hyperbole from the other side, calling him a bust, is also a bit ridiculous.

Many players don’t reach their ceilings, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad or busts. They can still play a solid role on your roster.

Personally, I’d like to see Dach get a lot nastier and play the game more like Kadri does. I think that will help elevate his impact even if he misses hitting his skill ceiling.

Zawaski said elite has left the building with Dach but it's too early to call him a bust.
I’d say the expectation of elite should leave the building. We never know for sure when a guy may boom.

I still don’t think bust is on the table though. To me, bust means fourth liner or out of the NHL. Even if Dach doesn’t develop anymore, I think he’s still an NHLer.

He's producing at a 4th line rate currently. He's on pace for 31 pts while top 3 among Hawks forwards in ice time. The only Hawks forwards getting more TOI than him are Kane and Cat.

If you think he’s a fourth liner right now, then I guess let’s just agree to disagree because I really don’t feel like arguing with you.
