Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

I've explained this so many times now. There's even an entire thread about it.

It's pretty obvious what he can learn.

This boy needs help. Give him the help he needs".

This is you being specific? Okay, how does going to Rockford enhance his skill and creativity? More to the point, you've stated that player development in Rockford is a shit show.

Just a terrible player. Strome will never compete against a good team. He sucks. Get Dach off your mind this shit is just stupid now.

I have plenty of posts where I go into depth. I even posted one yesterday.

Kirby isn't doing the things that make him good (offensively) at the NHL level.

If he goes to the AHL where the competition is easier, he'll become the go to guy. He'll be the 1C playing 20 minutes a night.

This will help Kirby regain his confidence and develop the alpha dog mindset.

No longer will he differ the puck. You'll start seeing the Kirby again that barrels down the ice at top speed and dangles through the legs and bulldozes his way to the net.

Then he can this back with him to the NHL level.

Look at any other center in the league right now that is similar to Kirby Dach. They all spent time in the AHL or had extended junior/college time. That's what Kirby needs, or else his development will be stunted.

This site is hilarious someone calls you out and you get in trouble for it.
I don't know what this is specifically referencing, but this type of stuff has happened to me before. Thankfully DHF and NFS are pretty cool towards me and generally are pretty forgiving to quality posters IMO.

The mods from outside HF Hawks, however have not earned any of my good graces. Always finding something to complain about and never praising my excellence.

So it comes down to regaining his confidence. Okay.

I'm not disputing that he was rushed to the NHL.

Dach isn't getting offer sheeted.

The Kotkaniemi offer sheet was motivated by the Aho offer sheet. It was purely vindictive.
You say this as if you know .. maybe it's unlikely but it is possible and I disagree, Carolina wasn't acting on pure vindictiveness as that would be foolish. Offer sheeting Koktaniemi was as is any trade, offer sheet or even draft pick .. a calculated gamble .. I would think it was partly motivated by the Aho scenario but not the sole reason.

6.1 million bucks for 7 goals and 9 assists in 33 games

looks like the gamble has not paid off thus far...really surprised that he is not playing with either Aho or TT.

although I agree it was not pure vindictiveness it certainly was part of it.

will see what happens with Kotkaniemi moving forward however unless he gets a bit bigger role in Carolina my guess is he will not want to be back after this season with the canes...although he is RFA so time will tell

It's not always about stats, Kotkaniemi has been pretty good lately but it took some time for him to get started. He still has good upside, why would Carolina want him gone or why would he want to leave? Lots of Finns on that team and he looks to be having fun there unlike in Montreal where he never smiled.

Rod plays with lines a lot, he will probably get a shot on the first 2 lines soon. Necas is playing himself down the lineup so there is room.

You are the steam engine that makes this choo choo go.
He's MAYBE equivalent to the donkey that turns the wheel that aerates the blacksmith's forge who makes the axe that they use to chop the wood to power the steam engine. Maybe.:sarcasm:

I think it would also be a bit of a wake up call for him. He has never been a healthy scratch. No accountability or making him earn it.

I was reading Scott Wheeler and I saw that this was in his prospect eval article:

Scott Wheeler said:
1. Under 23 years old. We know that by the time a player turns 23, he is largely done the steep upward progression we see in prospects and will begin to plateau.

Using that as a guide, Dach really only has one year of development left. By the end of next season he will likely be what he is.

I'm not giving up on him yet, but he's gotta improve over the rest of this season and next. The clock is ticking

He's still 20 and won't turn 23 until January of 2024....
