“I’m not as worried about the 5-on-5 scoring.”
No, I think that’s the one in all caps demanding he goes to Rockford. Is this the Kirby Dach appreciation thread?

NeitherDach has either regressed bad, or the Dach we saw in the bubble playoffs was him overachieving by a lot.
So, he just... plays bad hockey because he doesn't want to play better hockey?Neither
The Dach you saw in the playoffs is the true Dach. So, he just... plays bad hockey because he doesn't want to play better hockey?
Exactly, it would have been impossible for Dach to do any upper body strength workouts while trying to rehab a bad wrist. I would think next year after a good off season training we are going to see a much different playerHis finishing and goal scoring would come through more if he was to be a 70-80 point player in the nhl imo.
But, this is also technically only his second season. Sophomore struggles are very common.
He will need to lock himself in the gym in the off-season and work on the shortcomings.
If all he ever becomes is a 60ish point two way, possession driving center, that's still very good. Not our savior, but an important and good piece to have.
I see Dach as a player who tried to do too much as a rookie and sometimes paid the price for overhandling the puck. He has toned it down to the point where I think he is a bit too casual in his play and perhaps has lost a bit of confidence. My impression of Dach's trajectory. He zoomed up through Juniors quite well but he never dominated, likely due to his age but no matter, he did not learn how to dominate especially when you are the guy being targeted night in night out.
I think that alone will cap his NHL ceiling.
Poulin: The best NHLers dominate at other levels; Another year at UND could be good for Sanderson
I remember Poulin speaking of this when he was coaching at Notre Dame and agreed completely.

That said, I expect his intensity to be better next fall after another year under his belt and with a more mature body to work with. I get a bit pissed at the HC for playing him at cortical times in a game (due mainly to his poor faceoff ability) but by playing him in all situations it should be of value for his learning curve and overall game going forward.
I think Dach has a good head on his shoulders and has leadership abilities. (When he was mic'd up we could hear it). This could very well be true, but the opposite could also be true imo. I mean having someone who takes the tough matchups so Dach could develop behind them as a 2-3C.
He is still just turning 21 after all, having missed a year.
I don't know, it's either or really. When Toews was good his first year, Dach at times was pushing him already.
Just too bad Toews can't handle that right now. Having the option would be really nice.
Personally, I think Dach could learn more by taking a short break and observing from above, for a game or two, accompanied by a mentor (if there is such a thing in this org). He could witness firsthand how this team usually plays east-west and tend to overpass.... and realize he is part of it.What exactly is a stint in Rockford going to accomplish? Abstract bullshit does not count as an answer nor does some sort of "reset" to his game.
Will it help him to develop an east-west game? The ability to find time and space in the offensive zone? Being better at face-offs? I sincerely doubt it.
The question at this point should be is Dach's best position at wing?
Unironically Strome is our best center at the moment. The problem is he is this teams best center. Ton of confidence in the kid.

He shouldn't be. It should be Toews, but it's not. It should also be Dach, but alas he needs time in Rockford.
Hence, Strome Dog is currently on top.

Dach isn't getting offer sheeted.I think there could be a chance for a similar offer sheet as Koktaniemi received from Carolina.
Both high 1st rounder pick C's that have been underperforming ...
I would personally rather keep him than lose him for a late 1st round pick plus a third or second and third.
What will Dach learn in Rockford that will make him a better NHLer? Please be specific.Unironically Strome is our best center at the moment.

I've explained this so many times now. There's even an entire thread about it.What will Dach learn in Rockford that will make him a better NHLer? Please be specific.
