Army doesn't negotiate. He gives what he wants and lets it be what it is. We have several examples of that.

We have no examples of anything. None of us know what's actually said or offered when they have negotiations. I will agree however that Armstrong obviously like any good business man has a line he will not cross and he doesn't cross it.

ROR's broken foot should just about put the nail in the coffin this season (if it wasn't already). I only hope he recovers soon and this doesn't severely hurt our return in a rental trade. This season has been one disappointment after another.

We could well have 6 new forwards in the lineup next year as ROR, Tank, Barby, and Acciari are UFA and leivo and walker are basically placeholders. I expect 1 will be neighbours and 1 alexandrov. Hopefully we can get nhl ready prospects in some f the deadline deals bc we don’t really have anyone else I want in lineup (assuming Bolduc is at Springfield and snuguy still in college).

Sounds like a top 5 pick next year to me

Armstrong is really good at business-manning it up, he doesn't lose his business man deals. He sets a line and doesn't cross it and that's why we have this team today, an older cap maxed team tied for 22d place with perennially hapless Ottawa. His poise is just off the charts for business.

The 2 guys who can fetch 1st rounders are both hurt in the same game. Our luck is so bad, it could be raining vaginas and we’d get hit with a pecker.

Armstrong is the only reason we had a window open long enough to win a cup. We're the fourth oldest team in the league, and the only teams older are pretty good company to have. Those teams (Tampa Bay, Washington, and Pittsburgh) have, for the most part, also had long running windows of competitiveness. I certainly don't want to be Chicago. They've largely been irrelevant for half a decade now. They don't look like they'll improve any time soon. I think this team will look much different to start next season, and I think it'll be for the better.

Better for the long run? Definitely not better in the short term. We are going to suck next year.

Armstrong having balls of steel is the only reason we have a cup. Everyone else and their moms would have sold in 2019.

I think we ought to keep Barbashev. Don't want to do a long-term deal with him but something 4 years and under would be good. I think he's really improved the past couple years and his versatility will be nice with the roster in flux.

would you rather have Barbs or a 2nd? I’m a little torn

I don't want to strip the roster bare. Need to create a good environment for the prospects to develop. Don't want to force them to take on big roles before they're ready. I think I'd do 4x4.

I would lean towards a 2nd for Barby. Fine complementary piece, but not irreplaceable. A second would help. It’s easier to find depth via FA or even internally. Having another 2nd gives us more chips to trade or gain a higher impact player via draft. Even if you end up with another Barby with that 2nd, you are getting a cheaper and younger player. Maybe the timeline for that player isn’t ideal, but beyond that I think I could live with looking elsewhere.

Barbashev needs to be traded, every UFA that another team is willing to give you assets for gets moved. This includes Mikkola, Acciari, Leivo, Greiss.

If the Blues want them back, they can sign them as a UFA like every other team. All assets are needed as Armstrong has a severe lack of a pipeline coming and it has to be rebuilt and restocked.
