be a perfect pickup for the ducks in both style and how they seem to want all of the agitators... (perry, kesler, bieksa, garbutt, boll, manson etc.)

I'll give you 4 dimes for a dollar!

Andersson + a 1st isn't a bad offer, IMO. Not with Wideman though.

Lines of...

Gaudreau + Monahan + Marchand

and

Tkachuk + Bennett + Brouwer

Would be pretty nuts. Marchand would put up career high totals and Johnny could break 85 pts IMO.

Leaving Boston aside, the best fit for him would be Pittsburgh, but practically any team in the NHL could use a guy like Marchand, which might drive his ask out of their price range.

Yes it is a bad offer. Look to the Lucic deal for a starting point. Marchand not going anywhere anyway.

I used to say that I hate his antics so much that I'd never take him on my team (Habs) but man I am a big fan of his game. So yeah, I'd love to see him with the Habs.

But since the Habs became more of a PR first team, I doubt they'd be interested in Marchand and have to justify his actions all the time.

That said.. he'd be great on Crosby's wing indeed.

If the Pens manage to trade Fleury for nothing, lose Sheary to expansion (that's actually not that unrealistic, especially if he's playing on Crosby's wing for the year), don't re-sign Bonino and sign Marchand to the same contract that Ladd, Okposo and Eriksson got, the Pens would have:

Marchand ($6)-Crosby ($8.7)-Hornqvist ($4.25)
Hagelin ($4)-Malkin ($9.5)-Kessel ($6.8)
Rust ($650k)-Fehr ($2)-Sprong ($925k)
Wilson ($625k)-Sundqvist ($800k)-Kuhnhackl ($625k)
XXXXXX-XXXXXX

Dumoulin ($3.75)-Letang ($7.25)
Maatta ($4)-XXXXXX
Cole ($2.1)-Schultz ($1.6)
Pouliot ($1)

Murray ($4)-XXXXXXX

That lineup costs $68.575 million, which would leave around $6.5 million to get a 2nd pair RD (which I actually think Pouliot might become, I think he breaks out this year), a backup goalie and 2 extra forwards. So they could probably make Marchand work. If Pouliot breaks out, he'll be looking at closer to $3 million I'd guess, but even then, they can get a backup goalie and 3 extra players for $3.5 million. If they can get someone like Guentzel to be able to take the 3C spot, that would help even more.
Rumors are that Marchand wants at least 7m (before looking so good at the WC). Not a chance you can pencil him in at 6M, cuz if he's leaving Boston it's only because he can get more than 7M somewhere. If he's leaving, you'd better count on at least 7.5-8M, and I don't think the Pens can make that work.

Wideman is salary swap for the year(plus he's better then the bottom 3 defenders Boston has, Andersson/Hickey are both decent prospects both d-men which everyone knows Boston needs to improve their defensemen, the 2 2nds or 1st, will be the same chance(single or both) at becoming a nhl player or close to the same, it's an offer, sorry lol

Make my day.
good player, annoying to play against. I mean he doesn't seem out of place at the world cup so what team wouldn't want him?

As a Vancouver fan, the thought of him here is a bit disgusting but then again we have cap space, a spot in top 6 LW and hopefully some youth to fit around him.

That said, he seems like a lifetime bruin to me

Burrows will get a big cut/unsigned. Miller is gone. Gudbranson, Horvat , Hutton will get solid raises though, and Miller will need to be replaced with a quality backup (I doubt Benning is prepared to go with a league min goalie behind markstrom). They will need to deal with sbisa and Dorsett's disastrous contracts to make it work.

Marchand is a very good player having just had a career season. I like lots about him, even his rat side, and he is a very, very capable on both sides of the puck.

But there is just no way anyone should be paying him 7 million IMO. It was after all the first time he ever scored 30 goals, coinciding with Bergeron's best season in a decade.
At least, at 7 million I wouldn't want him on the Pens even if we had cap-room and he is rather ideal for what we would like to have.

Perhaps someone will give it to him in free agency should he get there... but he will be 29 by then, and I don't see why he should be paid more/significantly more than what we've seen better/equal players get lately. Unless there's a major move in the Canadian dollar/NHL revenues at least. Obviously things could go casino in such a scenario.

Ya, if they can find the cap room

The Pens probably could fit him under the cap if he's looking for a long term deal at around 5-5.5m/yr. There's a lot coming off the Pens books next year as well as raises that will need to be accounted for (Dumoulin and Murray the biggest ones). As well as cap coming off via trades as well.

It's doable for sure. Which probably pisses people off even more at the idea of it.

:naughty:

Also that's assuming the Pens even want to go there. A lot can change this season, Sullivan is a guy that is not afraid to give the kids a shot and the Pens have some interesting kids in the AHL and in other pipelines. While Marchand would be great, it would have be a ton of mutual interest and if the contracts the Pens settle, making it work. Also, there's the whole Vegas thing which can screw it up for everyone in the league.

Everyone knows the Bruins have no shortage of higher end defensive prospects now and that would be a terrible offer for Marchand unless you are Calgary. He just scored nearly 40 goals.

Marchand is honestly a Ducks type of player... line of

Getzlaf Perry
Kesler Marchand
Would make for a very annoying 1 2 punch, granted that is just a dream

How many other players scored over 35 last year and rarely played the powerplay? I mean I can not remember seeing him on the 1st unit ever. It was Eriksson, Bergeron, Krug, Krecji and Spooner. Marchand was used more as a PK guy, which adds to his value over a one dimensional so called scorer.

I know, when I said that I didn't think they had the room then I looked and realized they did. Even if they went to 7.5 that would be pushing it but they could do it.

And what an upgrade

Kunitz out Marchand in

Crosby Malkin Kessel Marchand Hornqvist Hagelin, Letang Matta, MAF, Murray

Absolutely stacked only thing is it might cost them Hornqvist long term but short term they be unstoppable at least in the east.
