its fun to pencil a good player from another team into your lineup and assign a reasonable price to him

but teams with good players keep those good players if the price is reasonable

marchand unfortunately needs his speed advantage to be successful. his offensive creativity is average at best when hes not motoring around like a buzzsaw.

hes going to be 30 very soon... very few guys keep their speed advantage after 30 when it wasnt worldclass speed to begin with

to me... brad marchand makes his opportunities by agitating... making guys chase him... he is usually on the ice against offensive players that arent shadowing him... he is an opportunist scorer who scores off the rush or when plays break down.

i mean boston doesnt even use him on the pp... because hes not a slow it down and set it up type of scorer

for the next 2-3 years marchand projects to be a great player... guys like alexander burrows and brenden morrow and dustin brown and ryan callahan were all scoring career high numbers at 28-29 too. for undersized agitators, 28-29 is the peak years of their careers usually...

but you look at these guys at 32-33 and they look real ugly at 5-6 mill

thats the problem any team faces with marchand... today hes a hell of a player and probably worth 7.5 to someone... but he will want a 6-7 year deal.

some team with a 3-4 year window to win would be the best fit...

do la and chicago still have that window? i dont think boston does...

id probably look at a team like washington... st louis maybe... maybe pittsburgh?

but then you have to afford the caphit.

i am guessing boston will ultimately end up keeping him. if i was boston id overpay for a 4 or 5 year deal. term scares me alot with marchand just as it did with lucic and eriksson

I think the habs are a good fit given his friendship with Gally. If the habs go after him, Im sure Weber, Price and Gally would all make their pitches to get him to sign with mtl.
They used Gally and Weber and a huge contract to persuade Lucic to sign here. I cant see how they refrain themselves going after Marchand assuming MB is the GM.

his friendship with gally? lets chill a second they only met this summer because they had to play with each other, calling them friends is a HUGE word. Players Best friends is money and i dont blame them at all! how many time have you heard this guy will sign there because hes buddy with this guy, it just barely never happens, few exeptions.

I said his friendship will help the habs. I doubt he signs with, say, arizona, no matter how much they offer, realistic or not.

They are more than just summer friends. Search Marchand and Gallagher on google...

Top value as a Bruin

Marchand's value as hockey player would seem to best in Boston. Even at a a bit of a hometown discount, IMO Marchand would be happiest and most productive as a Bruin.

They can trade kessel for him. lol

We've got over 12 mil coming off the books next summer in players we have internal replacements for.

If Marchand makes it to free agency (big if), you can be damn sure the Pens will be in on it. The organization has been looking for his longterm linemate for a long time.

Sweeney is ultimately gone if Marchand walks to free agency without getting a piece for him. Sweeney's best play is to sign Marchand. Marchand knows this. Hopefully they come to terms, otherwise, it's bad news for the Bruins management.

Can't walk into a 3rd DNQ playoffs and lose a key player for nothing.

If it wasn't a money issue for the Ducks he would be perfect fit for the Ducks a left shooting LW with a strong defensive game and plays a physical games. Imagine a Marchand - Kesler - Silfverberg line :yo:

I don't think there is a "best fit" in that he would be successful with virtually every single team in the league. The only question is who can offer him the most money/term. Marchand is good enough to play first line hockey with every single team in the league.

Um I don't get a lot of exposure to Bruins games but when i think Boston the first player that comes to mind is Marchand. Is that wrong of me? It would be weird for me if he was somewhere else.

If Rakell heads off to KHL that leaves another wing position that needs to be filled. Ducks desperately need to be in on Marchand as he's LW and can fill that wing position.

It may not work out money wise, but if we can dump some contracts to make room for em Murray should be in on this deal.

If Rakell goes to KHL I bet 100$ Murray atleast calls them about the asking price. Because our Wing positions are gonna be HORRENDOUS

Would be like watching a smaller version of the Hanson brothers from Slapshot.
Just need to add the right C and it would be the most antagonistic line in the league.

Kadri? ??

Gallagher/Kadri/Marchand

I think that would be the most annoying line ever with a lot of skill.
