Speculation: If Marchand leaves Boston where is the best fit?

If Marchand leaves I think Pittsburg would be the destination.

With Bergeron signed for this and the next 5 years beyond at $6.785 per...I think Marchand will do a 5 year extension beyond this season for $6.5 annually. He is right up there but should he get more than Bergeron ? I don't think that he would try to get more IF he stays in Boston. As a free agent ? He can definitely get more than $6.5 per but I would really be surprised if he gets more than Bergeron staying in Boston. Chara, Rask and Krejci are all making more BUT they are also over paid and other than Rask I think Chara and Krejci will be moved during this season as I just don't see the playoffs happening just yet without a very big improvement on the backend.

Bergeron's contract was signed 3 years ago it's irrelevant.
And they missed the playoffs by only 1 point.

I am just thinking of what I feel Marchand will do. He could sign for $8 per for all anyone knows but I think it will be $6.5.

As far as missing the playoffs. Whether it be by one point or 10 points is irrelevant. If the defense doesn't improve then the chances of making the playoffs aren't going to all of the sudden improve. Just my thoughts.

FYI...I want Marchand to stay and I want the Bruins to not only make the playoffs but to win the cup. Not worried about the goal tending. Not worried about the offence. Pretty worried about the defense. Here is to the defense getting an upgrade :crossfing.

I am gonna say at the deadline this year, Boston is out of the playoffs.
Boston will trade Marchand at the deadline for young pieces to continue their rebuild/retool. Oilers could assist them with a package of

Yakupov + griffin reinhart +2017 third +rights to bogdan yakimov

1) Why would Edmonton trade for a rental
2) Why would Boston accept such a low offer for Marchand

MTL has a big hole in the top six on LW, so he would be a good fit with the Habs in that regard.

Literally anywhere.

His play so far in the WHC has been eye opening. I knew he was good, but not this good.

We too can assist Edmonton the way you want to assist us: Pastrnak + Krug + 2017 1st + rights to a 55 gallon barrel of real New England chowder for McDavid.

I'd love him on the Flyers, but seeing him on the Ducks opposite Perry would be fun.

It's nice to see other fans from other fan bases finally see what us Bruins fans have been saying for the past 2-3 years. He's toned down the dirtiness, but he still plays on an edge and gives 100% every shift which us Bruins fans love. With that said, the Bruins consider Marchand as a core player on their team just like Bergeron. Neely has come out and said the same and wants to get an extension done before the start of the season. It was last rumored that he was looking for an extension worth 7x7 so on the off chance he becomes a FA, he'll probably get more than that.

He has great chemistry with both Bergeron and Crosby. If Vancouver can get over what happened in that Stanley Cup final, I think he will be a great fit with Horvat who plays a similar style to Bergeron. He will go to Pens if they can find cap room but Vancouver should have more cap room and can go all out for his service (if the Sedins are ok with it).

Based on his play style i can see him playing in the Kings system, but not sure what their cap situation is or if it's even possible.

Did Eriksson, Ladd, Okposo, Lucic and others not get $6 million AAV or so deals? Why is Marchand going to get a million more than literally 7 other top line players

I mean, come on. Eriksson had 30 goals and 63 points last year. Marchand had 37 goals and 60 point last year. Why is Eriksson only getting $6 million but Marchand will get over $7 million?

If you watch the players you'll see the difference. Marchand isn't signing for $6.0 or he'd be in Boston .

good player, annoying to play against. I mean he doesn't seem out of place at the world cup so what team wouldn't want him?

As a Vancouver fan, the thought of him here is a bit disgusting but then again we have cap space, a spot in top 6 LW and hopefully some youth to fit around him.

That said, he seems like a lifetime bruin to me
