How many 60 goal seasons will Auston Matthews put up in his career?

Oh silly me! 58g in 70 games is only a 55g pace over an 82 game season!

So these are the paces hes been on for the past 3 years:

2020 - 55g pace
2021 - 65g pace
2022 - 68g pace

But you're right! This is a fluke season, he will not hit 60 again!

You should be a comedian
I think you misunderstood his whole point.

Anyways:

People hate Boston because of Marchand. People hate the leafs because of their fans.

Like my little poem?

In the end it doesn't matter if he scores 60 or stays at 58
be nice to see his name get into the 60 club but his health is what's most important for the playoffs
Im sure he will get in for a game or 2 this regular season still just not sure it will be enough for him to get the 2 goals
I know he can basically score at will but he can just as easily not score for 2 games
right now it looks like he's not going to get to 60 and Drai is right behind him. may even lose the rocket
I feel like with this injury he's prob not the front runner for the Hart anymore

Why do so many need to be offended immediately. Are you really not sure why I corrected you about a 55 goal pace instead of 68 goal pace in a thread title how many 60 goal seasons will Matthews have, where your reply was that he has been at his current pace for 3 season. You really don’t see why that would be incorrect in this context? I never said this is a fluke season. I do think it’s a testament to how many things need to go right to get 60 and how hard it is to achieve.
My response was to the OP who called this a fluke season for Matthews - so if you're going to @ me, make sure you understand the full context.

When you say “you’re right” that’s replying to me. If you want to reply to the OP go ahead. Who ever you were replying to saying he’s been at “this pace for 3 seasons”, that’s wrong. So the fluke part is irrelevant. Quit being on hockey forums if this is the type of thing that gets you offended and upset.

What is your issue? I am not talking to you at all and you seem to want to quote at me. The OP said Matthews will never hit 60 goals ever in his career if he misses his chance this season.

To my reply, I said its not a fluke as he's been around the 60g pace for the past 3 seasons. What part of that is a lie? If he's hitting 55g pace as a 20 year old and 65g+ pace over the past 2 seasons, I'm not allowed to call out a hater who thinks this is a fluke? Of course I'm going to reply to you when you some how feel like responding to me telling me hes on a 55g pace as a 20 year old and thus I am incorrect - lolwut?

Stop getting into arguments that aren't even directed at you

You’re quoted me 3 times now, so you are talking to me. Absolutely call out any “hater” you see fit. But if you make a false claim I can also call you out on it. Why would that be any different? His age at a 55g pace has absolutely nothing to do with any of this, you also never said “around” this pace. So don’t try to change things to make it something else. You said he’s had this pace for 3 years. He hasn’t age doesn’t matter. Can he do this pace again in the future? I would say likely, but last year and possibly this year are showing that just having that pace doesn’t make it happen and how hard it really is to score 60 because of how many things need to go right. Stop thinking everyone is arguing with you and maybe just try to have a conversation without getting mad right away.

Scoring is way up this year everyone is having career years!

except Matthews is still steadily scoring more even on an adjusted basis. Only one other player in the NHL has managed to score more goals all season than Matthews did in 50 games or even approach his pace from 3 seasons ago in a lower scoring season lol

And these are the reasons why nearly everyone is saying he’s the best goal scorer in the league and having an amazing season. “Lol”

C'mon Auston, score 60, don't get stuck with those C's
Cheech, Crosby, CK and Corey,

Oh dang I actually jinxed this man. It looked like a lock at the time. Since I made the thread he's scored 0 goals in 4 games and missed 3 games due to injury. Now 3 games left to get 2 goals :help:

I still think he pulls it off, most likely hits 60 in his next game against the Capitals. However, his recent injury proves how difficult it will be to get 60 again in the future.

No matter how good a player is at scoring goals, even with Matthews or Ovechkin scoring abilities, you need to play almost the entire 82 games to have a chance to hit 60. He has the ability to get there, but his health is the biggest concern moving forward. If he wants to get to Gretzky or Ovechkin's career totals or to hit 60 in a season, he cannot afford to miss many games.
