How many 60 goal seasons will Auston Matthews put up in his career?

This really seems like tempting fate.
Exactly. Wait till he gets to 60 before making this thread.

Its like me asking "how many 100 pt seasons will Gaudreau have" when Gaudreau is at 99 rn. Yes, he'll most likely make it (even more likely than Matthews hitting 60), but still...
Again, I'm not someone who believes in karma or whatever, but don't count your chickens before they hatch.

In saying that, I do hope he hits 60 still.

I dont see whats so bad about it.
The Stanley Cup is not an easy trophy to win and how many teams still have never won a cup since entering the league. I mean is that really much better than not winning since 67?
Know what is actually pretty crazy?
out of the Original 6 teams

Rangers have won 4 times (1928, 1933, 1940 and 1994)

Boston has won 6 times (1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, and 2011).

Chicago has won 6 times (1934, 1938, 1961, 2010, 2013 and 2015)

Detroit has won 11 times (1936, 1937, 1943, 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008)

Toronto has won 13 times (1918, 1922, 1932, 1942, 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1967)

Montreal has won 24 times (1916, 1924, 1930, 1931, 1944, 1946, 1953, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1986, 1993)

So even though there were only 6 teams and you would think it would be easier to win but some teams had major issues. was even hard to win back in the original 6 let alone now with 32 teams

Pretty stupid to give any team a hard time over not winning in a long time imo

as for the series wins not winning since 04 is pretty embarrassing and still not even the worst in the league with Florida not winning since 96

You understand that when 4/6 teams make the playoffs that meant 66.333% of the league made the playoffs every season? How about the fact that it also meant you only needed to win eight games to become champions? It was literally only half as difficult.

I'll give you the Florida one that's pathetic.

Montreal had the rights to every French born player, Toronto had the rights to every player from Ontario, it was a massive advantage for those two teams. Sure some players sneaked through, or were caught at age 15 or something like Orr. But the American teams were basically offered scraps back then.

I get what ur saying but still some of those teams only won 4 and 6 times. so even though there was low teams it still wasnt easy to win the dynasties ran the show
and its even harder today

ahh did not know this yeah prob a reason they were so successful lol

Well, zero previously, zero this year(92/93 style outlier with insane scoring league wide), and well on the way to zero reason to believe it’ll ever happen. He’s like 23 years old and his body is holding up about as good as his hairline.

Realistically, I'm tempted to say 0. He might not play again this year if they rest him until playoffs and I doubt he replicates this year or even comes close to it. This year for many players might be a career year
Except he's been scoring at this pace for the past 3 seasons so not sure what you're trying to get at.

Would be hilarious if he scores 1 goal in his last 5 games to end with 59.
A true legend would score 11 and pass to a teammate on an open net breakaway with 12 seconds remaining in the final game of the season.

And then change his jersey number to 69.

He has 58g in 70 games. Year before last he had 47 in 70. That is not the same pace
Oh silly me! 58g in 70 games is only a 55g pace over an 82 game season!

So these are the paces hes been on for the past 3 years:

2020 - 55g pace
2021 - 65g pace
2022 - 68g pace

But you're right! This is a fluke season, he will not hit 60 again!

You should be a comedian

Probably didnt 'know' that because it's not true. Just another tale passed down through the ages. The reality is in the pre draft era, popular teams attracted the fans of their teams to sign with them. But they did not have exclusive rights to anyone, and there are numerous examples. Detroit did better than the other American teams. Can you guess why?

Why do so many need to be offended immediately. Are you really not sure why I corrected you about a 55 goal pace instead of 68 goal pace in a thread title how many 60 goal seasons will Matthews have, where your reply was that he has been at his current pace for 3 season. You really don’t see why that would be incorrect in this context? I never said this is a fluke season. I do think it’s a testament to how many things need to go right to get 60 and how hard it is to achieve.
