If he performs in the pre-season (and why shouldn't he?), I say that you do the most modest possible slight like dropping him in the lineup during a game and see how he handles it.

To be fair though, It shouldn't be difficult to make this team
I mean if you can't out play Simmonds, out grit Engvall then shame on you

This is the same team employed Vesey, Barabanov, Petan last year on 4th line
You think you should be able to grab one of those spots

Otherwise, get rid of any ambition you have to play in NHL. You are never going to get a better and easier opportunity

honestly I know it could have been just lip service, but his interview yesterday appeared to be a very changed JHS. That looked like a man who has completely checked his ego at the door, and is ready to work in any capacity. I feel like you can tell when someone is just saying what they need to say to appear like they've changed, but he really did sound humbled by everything, and just grateful for a second shot. He's got the right group in front of him as a meat shield, and he largely will have the fanbase cheering for him to succeed should he make the club.

If what he showed in his interview yesterday is in fact the JHS that is in the room I really can't see why we wouldn't sign a 2 way AHL/NHL deal at the end of camp. Obviously this is contingent on his ability to still play, but that's never seemed to be the issue with him. Would be a shame for him to have finally figured it out in between the ears, only to have your skill be the reason you get cut.

Either way, very excited for JHS to get a 2nd crack at it. Really going to be pulling for him.

Interesting. I had zero expectations for him based on his lengthy, uninspiring past but this gives me some hope. I'll be pulling hard for him, but then again, I'm pulling hard for every single player in the organization. He's got talent, no doubt about that!

Why is Justin Holl not skating with the regulars? Paired with Marlies bound Dahlstrom 2 days in a row.
I think that they knows already that holl will be our key sucka this season. They saving his body for life and knowing that he'll get pummeld up for life in our tough games. Holl's role will be trump huuuge for us this season. Him and muzzin finna thug that thang up, hard. Holl's role on the PK will jump up to the clouds this season. Him and muzzin. They our D-thugs. We ain't have a lot of those. Dermott aaaaight,... but he ain't no soulja.

Hope he plays tomorrow night. I’m pretty excited to see him play for the leafs even if he eventually ends up on the Marlies.

I know I've always been fascinated by JHS ever since his GTHL days. I've always heard that he's a headcase and had a big ego that got in the way of him putting in the work to develop and it caused him to drop in the draft and subsequently cost him a shot on the Island. But watching just this one interview alone, I'm rooting for this kid. He seems genuine in his message and it looks like the kid has grown up a lot and has been humbled in life and has had the right mentors and people in his life to deliver home the message that he is never going to be handed anything. His line about going down to the ECHL, working as a stick boy or equipment staff just to be a part of the organization is pretty telling. I hope we are all pleasantly surprised by his play and I hope he can cut it and make it to the show. It would be nice to have a Mitch Marner lite talent on the lower lines who was also a huge Leafs fan growing up.

Long-time NYI fan here (easy now) - have always been pulling for Ho-Sang to get it together, glad to see this interview. His comments on what he's willing to do, and feedback re Lamoriello(s) and Linköping (words & body language) speak volumes. No trace of bitterness or entitlement. Good luck to him.

Wow. This guy just won me over. Very impressed.

Not getting my hopes up, but based on his undeniable playmaking ability and maturity, I see no reason why he can't crack our roster and be an impactful player.

If he could find chemistry with Tavares, that would give Keefe tremendous flexibility with our forward lines and provide much greater scoring depth throughout the lineup.

He absolutely has the skill to play on any line we have.

I hope between the ears he is better.

This is pretty accurate. After the expensive 4 and Spezza pretty much every other position should be up for grabs.
The problem will be that Dubas has already given contracts to the other guys and certainly won’t want to look bad.

If he was worried about not looking bad, why would he invite PTOs that could potentially make his signings look bad?

Some of you have yourselves really worked up into a pretzel.

Because he needs extra warm bodies for the pre season games so he doesn’t have to run his locked in players so hard plus he knew Matthews would be out for the pre season so Ho Sang makes a great filler.
Don’t get me wrong I am very interested to see what Ho Sang can do but I would be shocked if he bumps a contract out

You would be shocked if Ho-Sang starts off with the Marlies and works his way up?
