Ya..it reminds of the old saying " If you're running into assholes all day...maybe you're the asshole".

Where there is smoke...there is fire. I hope the kid can straighten himself out..but he seems to be a real piece of work. I doubt other teams would be passing up on the chance to sign him if all the rumours were just vapor...

again this is just completely false. many players have done PTO's with one team and signed else where. Kris Versteeg signed a PTO with the Edmonton Oilers, killed it in camp and signed a deal with the Calgary Flames instead of the Edmonton Oilers after training camp. That was in 2016...

It just furthers the point that none of us on this board actually knows anything. We all just speculate on here, but we have no idea if he had offers on the table and chose to come to Toronto on a PTO because he is from here or preferred this organization to others. We don't know unless you are in his inner circle.

Ho-Sang will likely be a Maple Leaf out of training camp. Sorry Gusev fans.
I can see both making it out of camp. One is a take away artist, the other is an assist machine. I smell a big trade coming( for a top tier #1 D), that will put these two in the line up.

Im pulling for Hosang, he has had quite the journey so far. Ive watched him play alot since 2011, if he makes this team and proves he has what it takes, its a great story. Its up to him, ultimately.

I’m glad he’s been given a chance on a PTO. I don’t know much about his personality but strictly on ice he needs to work on using his teammates. Trying to deke through an entire MTHL team doesn’t work in the NHL.

Correct...nobody knows and we are speculating. One side of the aisle is saying due to the fact he flamed out on the NYI and also was a scratch in the Swedish B league...that he has a reputation that cannot be ignored. I hope for the best in his case..I really do, but at the same time, I also think if he has trouble playing a team game (for whatever reason) that he will be permanently out of the league after this year.

GM's are willing to forgive just about anything if you can help them out and score. The fact that he is on a PTO is telling. Gallchenyuk had to sign a PTO because he thought he proved he could play at a reasonable level and GM's thought otherwise...thus the PTO.

All I am saying on this kid is that either his talent is over exaggerated or he is a major enough headcase that GM's wouldn't offer him a minimum contract.

Better than actually paying DeAngelo, but this guy is a well established idiot.

from all reports and to how much he's been bounced around you would have to think that, maybe he's grown up and can put all that nonsense into his past, crosses fingers!

I just watched a highlight reel of him and you can easily forget all the talent and those silky smooth mitts because of all the noise around him. It would be of great benefit to the team if he blossoms and can slide into the 2RW slot and give the Leafs some additional scoring and moving Willie to the 1LW. I think the team outscoring their mistakes is the best path they have to success. I for one do not mind 7-5 games especially when you're the one pumping in the seven.

Love kids like this who have raw talent, something to prove, and zero entitlement (even if the entitlement part is new). All about the here and now boys! Rooting for this little shit!

I think a big trade is needed to reorganize the salary structure and make room for a bigger 23-man roster.

As it is, they can't really carry more than 21 players and they have no room to manoeuver.

It's a necessary evil. A bigger contract has to go. I wouldn't know which one, but I'm pretty sure Leafs management does.

Offer this idiot onboard and trade Kadri for being to physical picking up for teammates. This has gone to far already. All he’s doing is putting ugly jewellery on a pig.
This team is in trouble. Wow
Can ownership please clean house. What a pathetic mess

Occasionally this thought crosses my mind and then I watch them win convincingly and almost effortlessly, and I think that Kadri on the team would make them better, if only the NHL hadn't been so bigfooted with him, what he's done to get suspended at least most times is reprehensible, but the suspension in the Boston2 series was idiotic on the NHL's part, considering what the Bruins had done to precipitate events and what the zebra's didn't do to turn the heat down not calling the slewfoot fest started the whole thing. but I digress......

the team is not in trouble talent wise, they have cap trouble but that's something the union has promoted and it has effected at the very least 12 teams who are up against the cap. Anybody here think the younger Tkachuk is worth more than Willie? anyone? but yet the union pushes the players and agents to demand unrealistic numbers for work not yet performed.

any way back to your normally scheduled broadcast which is more Ho-Sang and no more Hughson

Of course it is, we’ve been watching humiliating defeat after humiliating defeat every year, with no improvement or change. It’s infuriating to watch such mismanagement of this team, full of players who clearly don’t care if they win or lose.

Watching the leafs play games that matter just makes me angry.

there are always choices my friend

Josh always looked like an incredible offensive player from day he stepped on ice .. biggest issue is his team mates never liked him .. Josh is only concerned about Josh at end of day .. Leafs have 2 guys like him already .. nothing wrong with trying to bank don't get me wrong it is da way of hockey .. when things don't go according to his plan he takes his ball and leaves and leaves a bad odor behind him .. can't see this ending any different .. Dubie is still learning

Willie and who else?

He certainly has the talent to become an NHLer. If the mental and emotional elements get sorted out this may work out nicely. Fingers crossed.

As a fan, it's hard not to cheer for a comeback story for this kid. The talent has always been there...maybe he's ready to put it all together. Let him start with the Marlies and work hard. Something tells me he's coming hard for a spot. Robertson and one of Ho-Sang or Gusev shine at camp...I think Dubas would look to give Mikheyev his wish and move him

almost a mirror of Drouin, I wonder if Ho-Sang shares some of the same difficulties?

Problem of being mentally weak? can't handle pressure?

Drouin brought those pressure on him when he sat out and expected preferrential treatment
He forced Steve Y to trade him for a player who is bound to be a cornerstone of any defence and has potential star written all over him
He signed a contract that he's not able to live up to. That's on him, all those pressure is something he brought on himself

Drouin and Sang are just modern day brats. There are brats in every facet of life, these are it

Sang just needs to put in the work, there is no pressure on him anymore. He's no longer the upcoming prospect, hes' not even in a contract to live up to. He just has to put his head down and work

This Leafs team will welcome anything different. I mean he can't be worse than Barabanov, Vesey and Petan. I mean we gave them plenty of opportunities to make the team

Heck Simmonds still has a job with the Leafs. I mean if he can do it, really it's on him not to make the team

I can only assume you're not aware that Drouin has been battling anxiety issues for years, those might be the difficulties that the poster mentioned.

he's saying all the right things and has the pedigree but not expecting much based on his production. Imo if he was ready to take the next step offensively I'd have to imagine he would have done more in Sweden and/or AHL but he's hoping for another free wallet
