Yep. All those years consistently getting through a couple rounds…

Actually…

Lots of teams coast into the playoffs off of a hot start. Some come out guns a blazing and rested, some fizzle out and keep up their mediocre play. No clue how these guys will be but I think they have it in them to come out focused and ready.

All teams have some ups and downs. Hopefully we come out flying in a couple weeks.

Maybe he loses the lead for good to Makar and the Canucks lose their lead to the Oilers and Captain Quintin is handed a live mic just in time to follow in the footsteps of former leader Markus Naslund.

I never understood why this got so much flak, he just called it what it is and took accountability of it. Isn’t that what you want a leader to do?

No. It was just pathetic sounding. I qas there live and it just felt so lame and soft. And then he promised the playoffs would be better and they choked away a 3-1 lead to the freaking Wild.

Naslund was okay as a player but he was an awful captain imo. Never showed up in the playoffs and folded under pressure.

Bertuzzi was much of the same and he was the prototype of a Neanderthal so it wasn't just that Canadian vs Euro thing. That team just didn't have it mentally. Jovo, Cloutier, Bertuzzi... let their emotions get the best of them. Needed more Ohlunds.

Jovanovski in game 5 against the Wild in 2003, the epitome of ass. Wild scored like 7 goals that game and he was on the ice for 6 of them.

Also, Bertuzzi let his emotions take over as he was just there to start personal wars instead of team wins.

Now I'm lost in a Train of thought....

Matt Cooke really was a winner... as gross as that is to say. He just had IT. Like he always came through in the clutch and scored massive goals. He could step up the line up and fill in amazingly on any line and in any situation. His effort level got him to the NHL... he hit HARD for his size. Etc.

Problem is that he let the dirty stuff take over completely and became a weasel. Too bad cuz he was a great little player. I mean he really did whatever it took to win in the end... despite it being gross and dirty.

Like when he told the Wild fans buying tickets for Game 6 to go home and not waste their time because they wouldn't be coming back.

I blame Crawford for that shit, he shouldn't have let that shit slide and told the team to focus.

Game 5 was a warning side that the series was heading towards the wrong direction.

That's what I worry about with guys like Pettersson or Boeser. I don't feel they have that IT factor that winners have. I felt the same about Naslund.

Miller has it. Cooke had it. Ohlund had it. Yzerman had it. Gelinas had it.

Does that make sense or am I too high

Crawford was a shit disturber as much as the players though. Just look how involved he got with Bertuzzi and Moore.

Dan Cloutier was a loser who completely sucked in the playoffs. The worst f***ing body language after a bad goal against and you always knew the floodgates would open up. The core was fragile but that was mostly a result of shit goaltending...

I feel like Petey has it when the chips fall and it comes down to business - he’s a gamer and winner. Boeser not at all.

I’m also high off two gummies though

lol, how strong are they, 50's?

Also, I agree. I think Petey is a gamer too. He was excellent in the bubble. I think he's been desperately seeking meaningful hockey games.

I always thought it was strange Naslund so quickly got the playoff underachiever while as you say Bert is this idealized image of a playoff performer, yet his playoff production was exponentially worse and yet no one talks about it to this day.

Easily the most dominant pure power forward and the biggest playoff no-show as well I’ve seen.
