Not surprised that Petey is banged up. I’ve noticed lately when he throws hits he kind of does the Kronwall and turns his back. I wonder if that’s his way of still being physical while avoiding further injury

Going to be honest. Very disappointed with how the homestand has gone. Not just the results, but the core guys appear to be fading.

Rick seems hell bent on screwing with the lines each game and really hasn't made any progress on fixing the powerplay.

Win this and hope to god Edmonton drop some games. The 8 remaining games after this one are against rather tough opponents. Not even the Arizona games are gimmies.
Colorado was the only dud for me. And that was also very winnable but every loss on the stand were super winnable games. I think we’ve still been playing good hockey, but to simplify the luck we got early on is evening itself out.

I’m way more disappointed in the results rather than the effort.

I was wondering about this as well. I don’t understand the science behind his way of hitting but if he feels that minimizes his chances of getting hurt while still finding a way to be physical then I guess that’s okay. There’s other things im a little more concerned about though.

Pettersson really needs to work on his awkward skating mechanics this summer, particularly needs work on power skating and balance. His poor skating mechanics makes him stall as he tries to make plays. It’s like a transmission that slips in gear. He’s always had this issue but it seems to be more prevalent now.

The Canuck losses on this homestand, have mostly been 'toss-up' games. They played well enough to win 5 on 5, but were snake-bitten around the net. It's not as if they were dominated in any of the losses.

But scoring is becoming a big issue right now, and it's a troubling trend heading into the playoffs. The ice closes down, and the number of quality scoring chances dwindle. So often special teams spell the difference. And right now, the Canucks are losing the special team battle on most nights.

On the positive side, goaltending hasn't been a problem at all despite Demko going down. And if history is any guide, they're going to need both guys in the playoffs.

gotta do some winning now. We have to hang on to the division. We’ve done wayyy too much work to let go only now.
Edmonton has full control of their destiny. Soon to be 4 points back with 1 game in hand and a game against Vancouver. They also have a game against San Jose left.

Absolutely crazy how fast it all changed.

Edmonton hasn't had injuries all year. They have basically been allowed to ice the same roster every game without needing to make any adjustments. Must be nice.

Disappointment doesn't even begin to describe Lindholm. I get that guys can't help being injured...but the opportunity cost of not having your acquisition in the lineup is bad.
I'm guessing he ends up one of the most hated Canucks of the last decade if the Canucks bow out early in the playoffs and he doesn't contribute positively.

The Oilers resurgence from coming back from their horrendous first quarter of the season..to challenging for the division title,..is probably a much bigger story than the Canucks turnaround this season.

Kind of depressing to admit it, but no matter how the Pacific Division race unfolds, the Oilers are still probably the best team in the Division.

Appears that the Canucks were playing over their heads prior to the all-star break.....and the stars are now re-aligning.

Yeah, it’s why I avoid statements that don’t provide all the info. Like when people in January said “they are still 14 points back, why worry?” And to that I said “yeah with like 6 games in hand, so how far are they back really?”

It’s why I’ve also been over prioritizing the D situation over all else. Other than Hughes, everyone is playing a spot ahead of where they should be. It works for a short stretch but these guys will break down over time and become exposed. Not to tap my own stick but for the most part I feel validated on that account. 3 guys in particular have lived out their utility and are at best treading water now

Vancouver is a V8 that’s currently firing on 1 cylinder, this game could be ugly. I have 0 faith in DeSmith/Silovs

So Edmonton going on a freakish tear like they did last season is more notable than this group doing its first actual positive thing as a group in its history.

Ok.
