Since Tocchet completely changed the line up after practicing with a different line up for 2 days prior, I literally have 0 clue how the lines will look.

The thing is, you can’t have Suter, Mikheyev, Lafferty playing in the top 6. They have zero top 6 qualities.

Find a way to make Lindholm, Miller, Pettersson, Boeser, Garland, and either Joshua or Hoglander as your top 2 lines.

Perhaps you do Lindholm-Pettersson-Garland and Joshua-Miller-Boeser. Or reunite the Lotto line and put Joshua and Garland back together and have Lindholm as your 2nd line C.

649
Joshua-Lindholm-Garland
Hoglander-Blueger-Lafferty
Mikheyev-Suter-Podkolzin

Or

Lindholm-Pettersson-Garland
Joshua-Miller-Boeser
Hoglander-Blueger-Lafferty
Mikheyev-Suter-Podkolzin

Just stop putting Suter and Mikheyev on the goddamn top 6.

With Joshua back gotta decide whether to reunite the Joshua Blueger Garland line or split up.

If not reunited I’d like a few looks at the following.

Joshua Pettersson Garland
Hoglander Miller Boeser
Mikheyev Lindholm Lafferty
Suter Blueger Podkolzin

I'd roll

Lotto line
Hoglander-lindholm-mikheyev
Joshua-Blueger-Garland
Lafferty-Suter-Podkolzin

As to why we aren't running these lines at all is beyond me, I know Lindholm is hurt rn but I don't think we even ran this once since he's been traded.

Zegras with only 7 points in 22 games, really struggling this year

He took out all of his frustation that's been building up over the year on that penalty box camera the other night lmfao.

I'd roll

Lotto line
Hoglander-lindholm-mikheyev
Joshua-Blueger-Garland
Lafferty-Suter-Podkolzin

Agreed with Mr C above.

Let's just take a step back and realize how far and quickly this team has come. There are obviously going to be holes in the lineup. Let's not start turning on Toch for trying things. He has earned our trust.

Ducks are going to be a banger of a team soon.... But not yet!

yes try joshua with miller line or with petey
and leave suter in bottom 6 role. He is better fit there
Take him out of pp1 as well. Give someone else a try.

With Lindholm still out, I would personally go -

Pettersson - Miller - Boeser
Joshua - Blueger - Garland
Podkolzin - Suter - Hoglander
Mikheyev - Aman - Lafferty

Edit:
Forgot Lafferty in this scenario. You could also put Lafferty at C and dress Bains or PDG.

This is my wish as well. Might switch Pod and Mik depending on chemistry and ice time but thats the best option to get guys rolling right now

Blueger hasnt scored in 36 games. He shouldn't even be our 3C let alone in a top6 role right now.

good on Tocc for giving him a chance to get going alongside Garland and Joshua as that was a match up nightmare that was working but if it doesn't change quickly he needs to go to 4C and stay there.

Suter also sucks as anything above 10th forward now that it's heavy hockey. Too slow weak and not a good enough shot. 24 games since the all star break in top6 with PP bumper and 1 goal and some token assists mooching off great players. It's not working

This team just lacks offensive depth up front, a lot of these Suter/Lafferty/Blueger/Mikheyev types slumping was bound to happen. They were shooting like 20% to start the season, they were going to go cold eventually. Only Hoglander has maintained that crazy sh% all year long. Even Joshua has 4 goals in 19 games in 2024 after potting in 9 goals in his first 35 games.

I think management knew this, that's why they acquired Lindholm and were still trying to add another winger as well, sadly Lindholm has been mediocre/injured and they didn't have the cap space to acquire a winger with some offensive punch that fits Tocchet's system.

It definitely needs to be addressed this off-season, this team needs at least 1 more top 6 winger, ideally 2 but that's a pipedream.

Theoretically Mikheyev and Garlands cap hits are supposed to be top 6 talent. Unfortunately, they’re not.

Suter is fine at ES / defensively, but he runs very hot and cold offensively. When he’s cold, he’s a black hole. Right now he’d be more ideally placed as a 4C.

Garland is totally fine, he just sucks on the powerplay but at 5v5 he's absolutely a top 6 caliber player, Tocchet just likes him to drive his own line.

Mikheyev, I agree, unless his speed comes back to where it was in Toronto.

I will say - it’s somewhat refreshing for us all to be fretting about a team that has only gone 7-3-1 in March, while missing their starting goaltender and having some other guys play through injury. Sure beats the shit out of the last decade.

We definitely have some things to sort out, but some perspective.
Not so sure about this MC, from what Ive been noticing the sky is starting to literally fall, so this bum coward coach better do some heavy lifting to get that sky back up to where it belongs. Season is a catastrophe
