The prior two season Hall had 50 points in 45 games and then 80 points in 75 games, Johnny had 78 points in 79 games, I think that proves that Gaudreau has hit Hall's top level and Gaudreau did it in just his second season in the NHL, which you can debate that Gaudreau has probably, passed Hall's top level.

Hall is a star in this league, there is no doubt about that.

60 point players that are dealt for Adam Larsson's are not stars, sorry to burst your bubble. Hall is a great player, but he's not a star. I wouldn't start my team with Taylor Hall, I would with Gaudreau.

First Hall was traded to ensure McDavid knew it was HIS team. This has been stated and restated.

Hall is only 5th in scoring in the last 5 years behind Ovie, Benn, Patches and Sedin. So yes I can see your point as to how bad he sucks.

Beside Monahan with Brodie and Gio feeding him pucks it would be crazy. That and to see Hall that driven to constantly prove the Oilers made the wrong choice would be so freaking entertaining.

Those would be fantastic games to watch.

Everyone knows what I think of Hall and how smart Chia was in dumping him so my answer is obvious. I wouldn't trade Lance Bouma for Hall. NJ can keep their uncoachable dumb hockey player.

Both want to play at home.
Gaudreau contract at an impasse as he is not committed to Calgary.

Sign Gaudreau to the identical 6M contract as Hall and swap them.

Both kids play at home.

caveat...Chiarelli might have stipulated that Hall not be traded west for x amount of time

Important quote from PC to start this.

At the initial NA team Picks:
PC was asked why RNH was not on the team and Gaudreau ; Monahan were.

He said,
" I wanted players who have proven they can play against the best in the game."
"I LOST!"

Taylor has been a PvP forward for the last 4 Seasons.
Taking on the other teams best on the road and at home.
Last 4 years he's been: top 8 EVP in his 3 healthy years.

Gaudreau was #4 for EVP last year.
BUT!
Last year he faced 2nd comp at home and 1st comp on Road.
so if Gaudreau was asked to Play PvP all the time.

The only indication of his PvP play is this year on the road.
15-16:
Even Home
40gm 19 EVG 28 EVA 47 EVP +21
.475 EVGPG; 1.18 EVPpg
Even Road:
39gm 5 EVG 5 EVA 10 EVP -17
.128 EVGPG .256 EVPPG

The bold is what Calgary is worried about.
Cause in the playoffs teams will target shutting him down.

His 1st year he played 3rd comp at home and on the road

14-15:
Even Home:
41gm 10 EVG 11 EVA 21 EVP Even
.25 EVGPG .525 EVPPG
Even Road:
39gm 6 EVG 16 EVA 22 EVP
.154 EVGPG .564 EVPPG

Yeah he has negative value. If I had to choose between trading Matthews away or taking Hall, I would trade Matthews away.

Am I doing it right :sarcasm:

JG has 9 points in 11 playoff games, nothing to worry about there. Taylor Hall has...oh wait.:sarcasm:

Playoffs is a team game.

You go and look at the standard required for a cup winning team the last 20 years.

1. HSCA D system coach:
Sutter; Quenville; Babcock; ......

2. Top 10 HSCA Save% goalie.
Murray 2nd best start to a goalies career
Quick; Crawford; Howard; Thomas....

3. 3+ Top 60 HSCA D
Lovejoy; Dumoulin; Cole

4. 2 #1 lines or 3 Even G/Production line depth;
Crosby;
Malkin
HBK;

5. +ve Goal differential PP/PK

Reading some of your posts:
I is clear you must be new to the Game.
so some help for you.

-Taylor hall plays LW
- that is what is called a Forward.

You must get beyond the idea that one individual can play:
-Forward largely drives top end of Goal scoring:
- Defence prevents HSCA are shots.
- Goalie Saves the High scoring chance shots that get past Dmen.

Say to your self!

"A PLAYER CANNOT PLAY ALL 6 POSITIONS AT ONE TIME."
"A PLAYER CANNOT PLAY ALL 6 POSITIONS AT ONE TIME."
"A PLAYER CANNOT PLAY ALL 6 POSITIONS AT ONE TIME."

Taylor Hall 328 points in 381 games = 0.86 PPG
Johnny Gaudreau 143 points in 160 games = 0.89 PPG

I mean.

damn this is a fire taek!!! :yo:

Definitely a shoot with some heat on it.

Although, from both information available and first hand experience; Taylor Hall is indeed a pretty low IQ player. Dude has got some drive and hands though; he'll certainly be giving the Devils 100% on every shift. Now if that leads to goals, goals against or him getting knocked out with an injury... That's really a wait and see :laugh:

I like Hall, especially now that he's out of the ugly copper and blue; wishing him the best in Jersey. One of the few players league wide I'd 1 for 1 with Johnny.

$8 million Gaudreau still >> $6 million Hall.

Gaudreau = Kane lite
Hall = Parise lite

The discrepancy in their skill set is huge. Only point that favors Hall would be skating and even that is debatable. Hall obviously has the better top speed but Gaudreau is ridiculously shifty with his lateral movement and his balance is better. That allows Gaudreau to avoid getting hit hard, something Hall struggles with and Hall gets knocked down so easily for someone whose apparently really strong on his skates.

Gaudreau is easily the better playmaker and finisher.

This is close to the worst post in hf history, well done

Do you know Gaudreau was 145 lbs at the age of 18? Hall was a man already.

And your point is?
Look I am not trying to argue that JG is not a really good player. He is. But to say he is better than Hall at this point is just folly. They are on pretty much the same level. Arguements could be made either way. That being said if you are comparing Hall at 6 to JG at 8 Hall is worth more. It is a salary cap world now. 2 Mill is a big cap difference.

So saying he's better than Hall is just folly, but arguments could be made either way, which is it?

I wouldn't blame anyone for picking either player. They are both excellent and have very different strengths to their games.

RNH and Skinner both managed to be great rookies being slender and physically under developed.

Gaudreau is another tier above both those players. If you can't see that, well I'm not sure what to say. I would also easily put Hall above both those guys.
