The premise that Hall = Johnny is totally absurd.

I'd take the guy with high IQ and elite offensive skill over the physical beast with no toolbox 10/10 times. If Hall was 3/4 the player people say he is, he wouldn't be traded for a player like Adam Larsson, a top 30 dman at best.

Once Hall's body starts slowing down, his performance level will fall of a cliff faster than lemmings being pushed off by Disney employees. He doesn't have the hockey IQ to adjust and continue to be an elite forward in his 30's.

Devil fans are in shiny new toy mode but they'll see for themselves pretty soon. Oilers fans are a lost cause.

As a NYR fan i know Hall will destroy Girardi this season and he is a great player. But watching a good amount of Flames games last season and Gaudreau is unreal. Both are great but i would easily take Gaudreau over Hall. Gaudreau is Kane 2.0.

Jersey fans will soon see Hall is very one dimensional, he drives hard offensively but gives up defensively and looks lazy all too often. but hey, he's a speedy power forward that when healthy can change a game. well worth the trade(steal actually)

Gaudreau on the other hand has superior hockey IQ, quicker stick/feet and incredible passing skills that make him look like a top center more than a winger, as a matter of fact if he wasn't so small he would be a center. like he was as a youngster.

NJ adds heavy, A signed Johnny Hockey could get back something like:

:devils

Johnny Hockey (7.5m AAV)

:flames

Taylor Hall

Damon Severson

Yikes, you think there is a gap between Gaudreau and Hall the size of an add like Severson? And with JG signed at a cap hit of 1.5M AAV higher than Hall?

The value of this trade is not even close, NJ would not even consider this imo.

Well I don't think you have to worry about anyone having much interest in Lance Bouma, so you're safe there.

I obviously was overshooting there just to make a point of how little I think of Hall but why on earth would nobody be interested in Bouma? Unbelievable shot blocker, hard hitter, backchecks well, and is a warrior that never quits. Obviously his value is not worth Hall yet I would rather have him on my team then a guy that thinks only offense, has poor hockey IQ, and absolutely disappeared on his team the last quarter of the season once his team was pretty much out of it.

I would rather have Matt Hendricks then Johnny Gaudreau, he is an unbelievable shot blocker, hard hitter and backchecks well, not to mention hes a warrior that never quits (even when taking a slapshot to the nuts). Thats the guy I want on my team over a small, weak, defensively inept midget who only thinks about offense and becomes invisible when not playing at home. :sarcasm:

I see you dont get Oiler games in your country. While some of what you say was true about Hall the first couple years he has improved in all areas of his game. Including playing smarter and relying less on just his physical tools.
Dont listen to Flames fans Jersey. One guy said JG would change your offense. Hall will do the same. You are going to love him. He drives the play 5 on 5 like few other players. (2 others to be exact) Losing a player like Larsson is never easy but you are going to see you made out like bandits in the Hall trade.

whats so wrong with a player that "only thinks offense?" not even saying that is what Hall is, but still

the Devils were last in the league in scoring last year. What they need is a player that "only thinks offense". They have enough guys to make up for whatever defensive prowess that Hall may or may not lack

This is still going? It's a false premise based on the OP making up fraudulent claims. Just let it die already.

I hate to say it but I think Gaudreau is better than Hall. More skilled, higher hockey I.Q., but Hall is bigger obviously.
