Let's see Hall in the playoffs for once.

I would take Hall over Johnny, 9/10 times (especially in the playoffs).

So in theory, if you were the Flames, you would trade Gaudreau for someone bigger, and therefore, more durable in your mind, but you would take Hall, the more injury prone of the two?

Seems odd.

Oh you mean Hall's one year of 80 points and nothing else since? Gaudreau just hit 78 in 79 games. Give him those 3 games and he outproduces Hall. I don't get how Hall is put above Gaudreau. Gaudreau is a star, Hall is not. As someone said, Hall is a very good player but he has nothing on Gaudreau. Some people need to actually watch some hockey.
Hall had 80 in 75 games thanks for playing. Halls top seasons ppg 1.07 and 1.11 Gaudreau .80 .99 .

I forget where Hall was born but he spent a good chunk of his life in Kingston so Ottawa would probably be closer to home for him.

I don't have much to add to this discussion except how is Calgary not home for Hall?
Born in Calgary, lived there until 13; moved to Kingston, played there for all of two years, then joined the Spits.

so 13 < 3 apparently

Yeah sure, all Gaudreau did was to have 9 pts in his first 11 PO games including 6 points in 6 games against your Canucks.

This is one if the dumbest deals I've seen in a long time. Hall hasn't even played a game for us yet. SMH.

What? where did I say that here? I would take Hall, because I feel he brings more to the table than Johnny. I feel he is a better player.

So I thought Nucks were even good that season? I never implied that at all. The Nucks had no business making the next round, they did not deserve to. The only reason Calgary finished ahead of the Nucks last season, was due to injuries.

As far as Johnny.....how did he do against the heavier team in the Ducks again? Did he not get benched to save his hide from rough hockey? Hudler, Gaudreau, Monahan combined for only two goals and one assist for the first four games against the Ducks.

So yeah, Hall looks better for the playoffs to me.

Gaudreau had 2 goals and 1 assist in the 5 game series against the ducks(which lead the team) his injured linemates had 1 point each. anyone who could pass an eyetest would tell you the flames didn't loose because of Gaudreau inability to play against a "heavy" team.Plain and simple the Ducks were deeper and better but most nights Gaudreau was the most dangerous player on the ice and remember it was his rookie season!

As a Nucks fan, I really, really, hope Calgary spends over 7 on Johnny, and for long term too please. When your best line/players can't muster more than 3 points in four games in the playoffs, that's a fail. Not even making the playoffs is an even bigger fail.

As a flames fan I don't care what Gaudreau makes as long as I get to watch him continue to put up over a PPG against the lowly Canucks :)

Gaudreau will be injury prone, mark my words.
so many words like this have been marked
gaudreau will be a bust in the NHL, he's too small, mark my words
gaudreau's rookie season was a fluke, unsustainable, mark my words
gaudreau will never be a true first liner in the NHL, mark my words
gaudreau isn't a franchise player, mark my words
etc

But he was benched to avoid being pushed around and hurt. If he was your best player shouldn't he be out there?

Yeah lets blame it all on JG . In the NHL teams can shut down one player / Line , you need a deep team with at least 2 scoring lines and 2 other lines that can chip in while shutting down the other team . Calgary most productive player against the Ducks was JG and if you watched the games you would know JG was one of the best players on the ice

Both want to play at home.
Gaudreau contract at an impasse as he is not committed to Calgary.

Sign Gaudreau to the identical 6M contract as Hall and swap them.

Both kids play at home.

caveat...Chiarelli might have stipulated that Hall not be traded west for x amount of time

Gaudreau isn't signing for $6 million, If he were he would already be resigned by now. Looking more like $7.5 million to $8 million per year long term for Gaudreau as of now. And besides Shero isn't going to deal Hall after acquiring him in the Larsson deal. He will want him around for awhile and who says that Hall wants to go home to Calgary even New Jersey has a better chance making the playoffs then the Flames do.

He was only benched in the 3rd period of game 1, which was a 6-1 game, and he was only benched for the last 10 minutes, don't see what's wrong with resting your top guy in a game you have no chance of coming back in.
