$8 million Gaudreau still >> $6 million Hall.

Gaudreau = Kane lite
Hall = Parise lite

The discrepancy in their skill set is huge. Only point that favors Hall would be skating and even that is debatable. Hall obviously has the better top speed but Gaudreau is ridiculously shifty with his lateral movement and his balance is better. That allows Gaudreau to avoid getting hit hard, something Hall struggles with and Hall gets knocked down so easily for someone whose apparently really strong on his skates.

Gaudreau is easily the better playmaker and finisher.

Hall = Parise Lite? Are you crazy? Not in playing style at all friend. Two very different styles of play.

Gaudreau is a franchise player. Stop treating him as anything else. The NA team will shut up all the doubters/non-watchers/haters. He's the second best player on team North America hands down. Hell the gap between him and McDavid at this second isn't that large. Put that into perspective. The guy is a superstar. He makes every player on the ice he plays with better. Only the best players do that. He's one of the few players that can put a team on his back with his offensive abilities.

Taylor Hall is not a franchise player. He's a very, very good player.

Wow, Some Flames fans are delusional.

Umm. Give Gaudreau 3 extra games, but don't give Hall the 7 he missed when he had 80 points? That makes no sense.

Hall was better for the first half of last year. They're almost the same age, and Hall showed more at a younger age. It'll be interesting to see how Hall does now that he seems to have gotten the fire back. I'd wager he out produces Gaudreau this year.

Gaudreau having less points in more games proves he's at a higher level that Hall? They're very similar calibre. Gaudreau had better seasons the last 2 years, but he still hasn't been over a PPG, which Hall has done twice

I would take that bet. I would even do an avatar bet if you're willing to.

If Mcdavid isn't a PPG player by the time he's 23 then he'd be considered a failure. Johnny Hockey at a near PPG pace is a franchise player....

newsflash...McDavid is a PPG player NOW.
Do you folks not follow hockey?

not sure I would take that bet with a NJ Taylor Hall. If Hall were a Flyer, Ranger etc. I'd have no problem with the wager. Stuck with NJ defensive system now however

Don't get fooled just yet, just hold on to that fool hat of yours and let them, play this season, the gap between Johnny Hockey and McDavid, may be large or it maybe not that large, there is only one way to find out, let them play this season.

Gadreau and McDavid in the same breath. Imagine that!

I wonder what response Gadreau and a small add for McDavid would draw? I think I can guess. It would have something to do with a lunatic asylum.

interesting proposal .. the discussion up til now not so much

Hall coming back to his home town to haunt the Oilers 6 times a year. He certainly will have a chip on his shoulder. Should be a smart swap for the Flames if they are having issues with inking Gaudreau to a long term extension.

Gaudreau would be thrilled to play for NJ as well

""It’s special coming back and playing in New Jersey," Gaudreau said after the Flames morning skate. "I’ve got a lot of family and friends at the game tonight. We only get to come out to the east coast and play close to home twice a year when we play New Jersey and Philly, so it’s exciting.""

What I was trying to say is, that it took Gaudreau, less time, to reach the level that Hall was at.

This Gaudreau crap has gone completely outta control. Let the season begin already

I think this McDavid crap has completely gone outta of control:laugh::laugh::laugh:(kind of serious here, let's just get the season started).

Wow, Some Flames fans are delusional.

Flames fans are not delusional, we just need both Johnny and McDavid to play a full season.

newsflash...McDavid is a PPG player NOW.

He is and he probably will be but let's see if he can do it over a full season(which he probably can).

JG is Pat Kane lite and not far off from McDavid.......

Moar plz

Is Gaudreau not Kane-lite? So you believe he is of equal level to Kane? Greater? Or he is so far off from being in Kane's realm that a comparison which even states Gaudreau is not as good as Kane is too extreme?

I think you should look up the definition of "lite", you may be surprised what you find. No one is saying Gaudreau is as good as Kane if the use the phrase Kane-lite.

As for the McDavid, I think everyone knows McDavid is the better player, and will be the better player, not much defending that one.

Yup. Really no comparison needed.

http://www.edmontonsun.com/2016/06/...larsson-hopes-to-grow-his-offence-with-oilers

"I had some ups and downs and with Lou (former GM Lamoriello) this organization always emphasized defence first,†said Larsson, who was a more offensive D back in Sweden"

Shero has gone on record many times saying that he's trying to build a fast paced/attacking team. Lou's Devils were always defense first. If it seems like we're defensive mined it's only because we couldn't score goals with our bottom 6 depth and no real help from the blue line. Our bottom 6 looks much better than last year and Larsson didn't exactly contribute offensively.

It's really hard for me to say whether Gaudreau or Hall is the better player. They play the same position at an almost identical level, which you like more is going to come down to personal preference.

That said, I wouldn't do the trade. You don't acquire a player like Hall and then trade him before he even plays a game. He's uprooted his life and just started to settle into a new one. Moving him now sends the wrong message to everyone.

Hall has personally said he models his game after Zach Parise.

The lite part is bull, though. He's every bit as good, probably better going forward.

Yes......yes, you are delusional. As long as I hear little Johnny is as good as McDavid.

Throw a poll up, and see how many people would take Connor, over Johnny.
