The only loss so far for the Leafs is Mik.
Honestly, Murray and Samsonov should provide the same level as Campbell and Petr.
The fact that Kase was not available for like half the season and Spezza couldn’t really keep up most of the time, really don’t see them as huge losses.
Going to be interesting to see who else Dubas can bring in.

So this might be crazy, but Klingberg apparently has no market and is going to get a lot less than he thought. I know he is not physical, but he's still a great RH shot defensemen who skates extremely well, moves the puck and puts up points. If we move out Muzzin, we could perhaps add Klingberg at around 6 million or so.

Rielly - Brodie
Gio - Klingberg
Sandin - Lily

Looks really good to me. Add a heavier guy at TDL if we need to. Am I out to lunch here?

How much term you giving Klingberg?

Our goaltending is a question mark. While Klingberg improves our offensive ability, it decreases our defensive ability. I don't think that makes sense right now, to further erode our defensively ability, and physicality.

Zero interest in Klingberg, especially at 6M. Doesn't at all fill a need, and we have zero capspace.

What concerns me about Klingberg is his play fell off a cliff in the last couple of years. Now that could be because of Bowness, which was probably why he wanted out last year and now there are reports that he may circle back with Bowness gone.

But I watched Dallas a lot down the stretch and in the playoffs. He was a complete tire fire in his own zone and some of his decision making with pinches and passes made you scratch your head. He treated the puck like a hot potato against Calgary and played very poorly (maybe due to injury?)

I like the offense that he brings, but not much else at the moment

Bunting Matthews Marner
Robertson Tavares Nylander
Kerfoot _______ _______
Engvall Kampf Aube-Kubel
Clifford

Rielly Liljegren
Muzzin Holl
Giordano Brodie
Sandin

Murray
Samsonov

Leafs will have 4.5m in cap space to sign 2 guys plus Sandin and Engvall if they cut Simmonds Gaudette and Anderson.

How many teams that finished in the bottom of the East will cut into those point totals?

You’re also assuming we get last years version of Campbell and Murray whereas I’m looking at their last 3 years.

The Leafs also had career years from 2/3 of ther forwards and that’s probably not likely to happen again.
Most of the league had career years as scoring was up, that's not exclusive to just the Leafs.

While not sexy, I'd be happy if we threw a million at Rask to get his career back on track.

rookie-Tavares-Nylander

also works with Tierney, or a LW if Kerfoot slides into the 3C spot.

Clifford as the extra is just a waste of space, especially since he is not good enough to be a primary call up anymore.

Malgin and Anderson (or some other prospect/cheap player) should be taking two of those wing spots.

Moving Kerfoot allows us to spend a little bit more on 2 guys.

Tierney, Rask, Steel, Strome, and possibly Jarnkrok all work for different reasons. Mostly comes down to fit and cost.

I don't know what kind of player your getting to replace Kerfoot for less than 3.5m that will put up 50 points, play center, and PK.

Any examples of guys we can get?

Clifford doesn't have to be on the roster, but we need some toughness presence for the dog days of the regular season.

Of the three additions
-I think Steel is more of a gamble, but one I could get behind
-I worry about Strome's footspeed, intensity, and defence
-Jarncrok would be the pick of the litter IMO but will likely be too expensive
