If anything lilj had the bigger bone to pick with management and coaching staff as he was replaced for a shittier option in Holl for the tampa series. If lilj signed asap with no fuss sandin shouldn't be dicking around like this. If its that bad then just trade him. He's still fairly valuable.

Hey guys, just wondering if there would be a deal surrounding Nylander to NJ? After getting Marino, Damon Severson is probably on the outs for the long term. Something like Holtz + Severson 50% + something else for Nylander + Holl. Would give Toronto the cap space to sign RFA's, same amount in cap spent on the way better RD + would give an ELC contract sniper to play next to Matthews + Marner.

You'll see some on here that would give up Nylander for almost anything but in reality there isn't an obvious fit. In the most polite way possible, I don't think New Jersey has pieces that they'd be willing to give up to make it attractive to trade Nylander.

It would probably start with Mercer and the problem is the cap savings can't really go anywhere because UFA market for D is god awful.

And then we'd need to chase Murphy or another available RD etc..

Leafs need a top 6 wing (moving Nylander for Mercer doesn't really solve that), a top 4 RD and a good bottom 6 guy.

You guys have improved quite a bit in a short amount of time, looking up.

Seems pretty simple to just unload Holl and slide Giordano onto the right side. He's an intelligent veteran, so there should be no issue.

If we knew we could sign Nino I'd do Nylander for Holtz + Mcleod+ 2023 1st. Then sign someone like Marino, zar and Stastny to 1 year deals and fill out the roster.

Puljujarvi is a nice bet and I think he can be coached into being a smarter player.

I would've loved Pacioretty and would've completely ignored Gaudreau if that was the cost but I can't fault Fitz for going all in for the best UFA. That was really smart by Carolina to do that trade with the Isles and Devils busy with Gaudreau on Wednesday. Would love Garland, JVR is meh imo but I wouldn't mind it if the Flyers wanted to cap dump him but I doubt it. The time for that would've before Wednesday. Poolparty would be a good add imo but I don't think he would be the guy I'd want now, would've loved Zacha swap for him before we traded him to Boston. I don't think Wheeler makes much sense either too.

I think JVR has been available for a while but teams are wanting Flyers to retain. I think JVR can probably play 3rd line ES and give you an alright PP presence...but I also don't rule out the jolt of playing for the home town etc.

He was a Rangers fan growing up + been on the Flyers for a while so probably would hate wearing the Devils colors theoretically, haha. But yeah I think with how bad how powerplay was last year adding JVR before hand would've made sense if the Flyers wanted Gaudreau. I don't think they're giving him to the Devils unless something else is up with the Flyers in terms of a big trade.

Not advocating for Pezzetta... but the key difference with a player like that is his youth, energy levels and willingness to get into the mix.

We need more Gaudettes and Malgins or better yet, some washed up, slow power forwards who take dumb penalties.
