I liked him as a 4C option, and he fits Florida's reclamation structure, but I don't think he is a guy who would easily clear waivers and we should be giving our prospects (Abruzzese, Holmberg, etc.) the top 6 spots on the Marlies.
Things aren’t quite so rosy in south Florida now that their extensions and looming contracts have kicked in, with Kampf established as the shutdown centre, I’m hoping there’s a path to Paul Stasny

I think Holl gets dealt and that gives them the money to sign Engvall and Sandin - run one extra D, no extra forward.

I assume Kerfoot is actually staying unless they have other > league min signings left. If they have guys in the 1.5 range, yeah they probably move him, but otherwise I don't think they will.

Mirtle said on the latest podcast Kerfoot's name hasn't really been one hes heard as out there as opposed to Holl.

Guys I would have interest in UFA still left: Heinen, Milano, Stastny, ZAR.

Really like nino and E.Rod too but I assume they're too expensive. Maybe that's the type of signing that would result in a kerfoot trade, if they somehow got squeezed down to 3.5mil. Don't see it though.

Is Colorado trying to figure out the Erik Johnson situation before signing Naz? Seems like they're the favourites to land him, but wondering if that's the holdup

Things may really pick up once he signs.

Stastny would be a great addition but I don't think we can afford him. He'll get good offers from other clubs.

I don't get it. Holl was in their top 4 until they got Lyubushkin.

How do they replace him?

I think the issue is getting Sandin in the top 6 as an everyday guy. I dont think they want their 7d making much money, and it seems like most of that contract negotiation and the issues within relate to him having a defined role.

I'd probably move Muzzin, keeping Holl honestly but it seems from those who keep tabs on it (CJ, mirtle) that they havent seemed to even test the market on Muzzin/want to keep him.

Holl actually is pretty useful IMO, I just think hes a luxury they can't afford if they won't move out another D.

Might be irrational but I’m afraid it’s the Habs, they can go over 8.2 and If Price is cooked that’s 10.5 on LTIR so it’s not a stretch, god help us

I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't think it makes sense for either party. Naz will be in his mid-30s by the time the Habs are ready to compete and their cap situation isn't great. From what I've read, doesn't sound like he is going to a Canadian team

Prediction for each conference:
East - Devils - decent cap situation and with Naz, they become a wild card contender
West - Avs

Liljegren.

I don't know if that's an assumption they're comfortable with. I hope they are, but based on history they are very conservative in how they graduate young players.

Dubas already said he wants Sandin on the left. Right now, the depth is Brodie, Holl and Liljegren.

Ty Smith and Sandin are very comparable.

I hate to sound like a Homer but Sandin is more unique than Ty Smith.

I’d add Calgary, tons of money and a damaged fan base a Kadri/Tkachuk double signing would be a bonanza.

Smith had some of the worst underlying stats in the league last year while Sandin had some of the best. Even accounting for the teams theres a gigantic gap in current effectiveness. You don't have to be a homer to think Sandin is better.

Sorry I should have clarified - both stuck in the same position as being fringe on their respective rosters.

We should trade Sandin for a young cheap forward who can play middle 6 role.
If Pujularvi comes cheaper I would take a chance on him.
Pulju is a man we SHOULD be looking for yeas sire. He twerks-a-LOT. Hits some too but his two way game is so forceable.... it takes energy, out of the opponent and also from himself. He is one of the biggest workers in canada. His presence would though change the energy and chemistry... and not all people like dumb people like him. His language is also pretty dumb still. His tongue is also on his nose etc. Pretty monkeyous, but still some fun. They didnt like him edm from what Ive heard sire. Mcdavid etc doent even want to play with him anymore and didnt before this also. But pulju is effectice on the ice. He forechecks and backcheks so hard..... too bad his IQ is treally low sire. Lets see what type of money others is willing to give this chemistry changing, not very intelligent ice hockey player.

If they leafs trade Holl for picks, they can bring back Engvall for slightly less than the Jarknrok contract, sign Sandin with an assured spot in the lineup for around the same as Liljegren and keep Benn as a 7D.

Or they can trade Sandin for a F upgrade (e.g. Hayton), keep Holl and then run with Mete as the 7D.

They're keeping options open.

I'd offer up Engvall for Puljujarvi. RFA for RFA, and they should both sign similar contracts.

I think the problem is we need depth on d since it is likely someone will get hurt. Sandin-Holl is better than Mete-Benn.

I think they would be more likely to run something like,

Rielly- Brodie
Muzzin-lily
Sandin-Gio
Holl

The only way they can move Holl imo is if they get someone as good or better and probably cheaper.

As an example, people are mixed on the idea of signing Subban but i would take subban at 2 x $1 million over Holl at $2 million. Sure its a risk but not any worse than Murray/Samsanov. If he gets himself sorted he would be an asset. More so than Holl.

I think Kerfoot is the odd man out. He would be easier to replace for cheaper.

How about this?

Nylander
Kerfoot

For

Miller
Garland
Schenn

The Leafs trade two years of Nylander for one of Miller and one of Kerfoot for four of Garland. They also get Schenn as a sweetener (maybe add a B prospect if required).

The Leafs also free up cap space and acquire assets by getting Schenn allowing them to trade Holl for sure in another deal. This could also allow for either Muzzin or Sandin to get moved in the right deal.

Bunting • Matthews • Marner
Tavares • Miller • Garland
Engvall • Kampf • Jarnkrok
Robertson • Gaudette • NAK

Rielly • Brodie
Muzzin • Schenn
Giordano • Liljegren
Sandin

Murray
Samsonov

We could improve the fourth line or roll it as it 8 minutes a night and try to see what we have. It could also include Anderson and/or Steeves.

Above that though we fix tbe second line by moving Tavares to the wing and hope there is chemistry with Miller and Garland. We have a very solid third line and our d pairings seem to make a lot of sense.

I'm bout that sire you know what i'm saying but I'm still hella worried of his IQ though..... he looks and is really low. They didn't love that in edm.
