Have you actually played hockey or any sports? Or done anything competitively? If you just look at one game, you can literally just say "shit happens" - you make some awesome passes, your teammate doesn't convert etc.

I absolutely ripped him for Montreal, that was a piss poor effort all around. Tampa series, if I look at the series as a whole, Marner is someone I was fine with.

PS. Kucherov had 1 point in games 6 and 7 and was minus 5 in the series, what a crappy player :D
You readily admit he wasnt good enough in Montreal so how can you say this is only one game? I wasnt looking at just one game... this was two elimination games (the most critical games where you need your best players to be your best players). He certainly couldn't say he had a good game 2 either (no leaf could). He also flipped the puck out of play in game 6 elimination game of the Montreal series when he wasnt even pressured... causing a 5-3 goal against. Having a tendency to break under pressure is not a good trait for an 11 million dollar player.

Kucherov would tell you his series wasnt good enough... Marner is on his 3rd consecutive "not good enough" series (and arguably more if you go back further than his recent contract). Kucherov obviously has had a lot of playoff success before this series.

Solid two-way RH top 4 who just turned 25 and makes less than Muzz and displaces Holl whose contract expires after this season, that’s not too hard to swallow IMO

Where are you getting the extra 2.4 mill over Holl?

You'd need to move Kerfoot and cheap out on his replacement, or move out Muzzin but you also likely need to trade Sandin to get Marino so you are suddenly shallow on LD. Effectively Brodie would need to move to LD, and he is much better at RD.

I considered Marino yesterday. How to fit him in and make it work. It is effectively Kerfoot, Sandin, and Holl out, and then you have a contract that may be a little bit heavy for when we need to sign more important players. Right now, Jarnkrok and Rielly are the only ones with contracts when Matthews and Nylander are due.

I think the Leafs are better off just giving Liljegren some runway. Would not be surprised if he can be as good as Marino next year if given the chance.

I said he wasn't good enough in Montreal series being the operative word.

I said he was fine in game 7 when he posted an assist and his overall series was good. You're the one struggling to recognize micro vs macro.

Well that's the issue obviously

If we had the space he's a prefect partner for Reilly

Unfortunately we do not

? We could easily have the space if we wanted it.

I would have liked Marino. But I Would have thought his value was higher across the league.

Unless you move Muzzin or engvall or Sandin we do not. You'd have to move all of sandin kerfoot and holl for example

Lets see whom we'll get after these petry trades and all  Pittsburgh will ALWAYS be strong. They also have the best coaching staff in the world. Sullivan is one darn key. So confident and firm.

We want to get one more stiff body on D, maybe a hard one. Thuggish, hard and rumbling. We need roughness in our end. Maybe a winger if not a D...... but all of y'alls woould want a hard D I know and sense this. We soft. Tender. I'm amazed we didn't demand deslaurierls................... toronto can do what they WANT: We should demand players. We are the most powerful and richest organization in the WORLD(!!!!)

What were your thoughts on Marners 2020 Columbis series: 5 game 0 goal 4 assist -1? Averaged 3 shots a game.

Ty Smith is a 22 year old mid-first round pick with 114 games of NHL experience already.

He needs work in his own end, but I think he can easily replace Matheson next year for PIT, and Petry (on a better team) may still have enough in the tank to replace what Marino brought. PIT needed cap, they got cap. Their defense is probably not worse than it was either, and they got some nice guys with upside and a better pick.

Im scared Montreal will get Bedard. I wanted them to sign players in free agency. They have no D

I think they get Subban or Stralman.

Pittsburgh defense definitely got more bigger and rugged by adding both Petry and Ruuta. Especially with Letang stil there

CBJ - C
MTL - D-
TBL - A- / B+

I thought there was some buzz etc with CBJ series, had some chances, and it was just weird to have a big portion of the season cancelled and then come in cold.

MTL - He looked like he wasn't a threat too often and Hyman didn't help either.

Tampa - he was buzzing, creating chances, went over a pt/game, contributed on both special teams etc. If he gives me that production consistently every series, you're doing okay.

I was more disappointed in our depth, specifically anyone not named Kampf lol.

We should trade Sandin for a young cheap forward who can play middle 6 role.
If Pujularvi comes cheaper I would take a chance on him.

Vancouver looking for RD and a Center is actually hilarious considering we have Kerfoot and Holl on the block.

I feel like Vancouver is our best candidate for potential trade
