GDT: Free Agent Frenzy 2022

A lot of those guys were given term though. They didn't get one year deals which didn't buy out UFA years, and worst case, I think the Leafs go through arbitration where I doubt he gets more than 2 mill since he doesn't have much of a track record.

In 2020, Bertuzzi got 3.5 mill from arbitration after posting back to back near 50 point seasons. Engvall has one 35 point season backed by a pair of seasons where he was a healthy scratch and 4th liner the entire time.

But who knows... Maybe the Leafs will be willing to trade Engvall if they feel like he is not coming in at a price they think they can afford and get one of the cheaper shutdown guys.

Lol. Fair enough but Engvall shouldn't be getting anywhere outside a 2.

The more I look at the Engvall and Sandin situations, the more I believe they may be traded.

The Leafs can't afford to pay Engvall in the $3 million+ bracket, nor has Sandin done anything to deserve more than Liljegren.....his stats just don't support anything more.

As amazing as the Giordano signing was (and you do it 100 times out of 100).....Sandin's situation is the direct trickle down result.

Ok .... lets make this clear .... in game 6 and 7 combined, Marner had a total of 3 shots, 2 hits, 1 secondary assist while averaging 25 ish minutes of ice time. Also he had the giveaway that led to the gwg OT goal against in game 6.

Your saying this was good hockey from an 11 million dollar winger and you think because I think it wasn't good enough... that I must just hate Marner?

Galchenyuk still gets grief for his giveaway pass from the Montreal series. Of course he was making $1,050,000, so no forgiveness there.

nobody is paying Engvall 3 million that's not going to happen and if that's what he wants ship his ass out and give his spot to Robertson because I don't think Engvall does what he did last year again.

he never did anything close to what he did last year before and I think what we saw was his career year.

I think Robertson can give you 15 goals and 35 points as a rookie and he will be less than a million.

I would love to see Robertson get some run at #2 LW.

That's exactly it. If they go to arb the Leafs are bound by his award. That is worrisome because anything stupid can happen there.

To keep Alex “Drop Pass to the Other Team in the Playoffs” Kerfoot and Justin Holl over Engvall and Sandin would be a disaster.

I don’t know what Robertson can give this season but I think the Leafs should give him a long enough trial with decent linemates to find out.

Have you actually played hockey or any sports? Or done anything competitively? If you just look at one game, you can literally just say "shit happens" - you make some awesome passes, your teammate doesn't convert etc.

I absolutely ripped him for Montreal, that was a piss poor effort all around. Tampa series, if I look at the series as a whole, Marner is someone I was fine with.

PS. Kucherov had 1 point in games 6 and 7 and was minus 5 in the series, what a crappy player :D
 
Marino for Sandin + pick would have been ideal… move Holl for pick first for what would be given for Marino. I don’t understand why Dubas didn’t outbid NJ.
 
Petry + Poehling for Matheson + 2023 4th.

Montreal really wanted to get out of Petry. Matheson is a very mediocre defenseman and has a very expensive deal for what he brings.

Jesus pohling was supposed to be a good trade piece for them as well

Like a lower rent sandin to use as an extra piece

They didn't save that much cap space.

They got a filler LD. Maybe they bring back Subban now though? That would be interesting.

Stralman would also be a solid partner for a guy like Harris next year.

They don't have the room.

It was a dump to sign dach/ the rest of the roster.

I think drouin/ Anderson and Hoffman are next
