I guess you didnt hear what happened with ryan mcdonagh in Tampa. They told him they were gonna waive him and Colombus confirmed they would claim him. Then proceeded to tell him you can either go to Colombus or waive to a team you are more comfortable with.
My point is the Leafs don't treat their vets like that. There are ways to get a guy to move but that isn't KD. I guess other than LA isn't impossible but I can't see it. Dubas doesn't appear to treat his players like assets.

Nice trade between divisional rivals (NJ-Pitt) there. I do like it more for NJ in the here and now.

Would have required trading away both Holl and Kerfoot for picks to fit comfortably.
Would have to had been done sperate I assume. Pens wanted to dump cap space

I kind of wouldn't but that's just me... Like it seems like a win now strategy so I understand the merit for it though.

Would want someone younger in the same situation IMO

He's 25 that's a 5 year improvement over holl

I thought he was good against Tampa. I blame the lack of help from our bottom 6 the most. Tampa got way more out of theirs.

A million here and a million there and all of a sudden you're hoping Adam Gaudette is an NHL player for you :)

A million here and a million there and all of a sudden you're hoping Michael Bunting is an NHL player for you.

Obviously tongue in cheek and you don't want to force yourself to find a bargain. But perhaps if we have the extra cash last year we don't sign Bunting and do something dumb with it instead.

For a League that has 32 teams and a pretty big roster count per team.....I really feel like they're should be a lot of more trades throughout the league in the offseason

Maybe its just me
A lot of these trades are pending on the soft deals that are waiting for the remaining signings and conditions being netted out.

Usually it can be a scene like deal value is good but divisional rival or another team has a signing has made them changes their mind or show availability initially thought want there.

I was responding the the Sundin swap but for holl yea 👌

I want to see Nino but I feel like he's gonna be gone.

Would anyone have done sandin +3rd for Marino?

Kind of wouldn't have minded Ty Smith for Rasmus Sandin, as maybe lateral as that would have been. He's on an ELC slide contract, 2018 first rounder, elite skating, shot arsenal from the point. Smallish profile, offensive dynamo potential.

Agreed. It's also probably fair to point out that Brisebois neither acquired McDonagh nor did he sign him to his current contract.

I mean we'd be playing him over holl on the right side so still buy 5 years

Hard to believe that Kapanen is a RFA still.

Smith was pretty trash last year. Sandin's development is well ahead of him.

Are you talking about game 7 where he had an assist? The only game in the series where he didn't have a shot? It's an incredibly stupid take from an entire series "MaRneR DiDn'T HaVe a sHoT 1 gAmE durrrrr"

He crushed it 5v5 that game and had 8 pts in 7GP gtfo of here with those crap takes.

The only game where he didnt have "a shot" huh. Quite the bar you've set.

Yes, game 7 where he got a secondary assist.... Other than that 0 shots in 25 minutes. Your right...what a big game by the 11 million dollar player for sure.

If the defence ends up being some formulation of

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Liljergren
Giordano-Sandin

Then they are going to get cycled HARD. Only guy on the blueline who can clear the front of the net and break a cycle is Muzzin.

I think there was a relationship there prior in that specific instance and Dubas has done relatively well in money ball moves...but sometimes they don't work, as with any GM.

Kampf signing was also a good one and I like the Jarnkrok deal.

Let's ignore the other 6 games and the strong series he had because he didn't have a shot 1 game. Christ, I thought I was negative lol.

Did Mikheyev play LW or RW for you guys?

Depends on the line.

Engvall-Kampf-Mikhayev was his primary role this year but then he'd go to LW with JT usually when moving him up in the line up.

Holl plays smaller than Sandin is. I'd be ok with Subban.. he can be pretty physical.

LW predominantly, but he plays both. He played RW when he was with Engvall and Kampf.

I think he is naturally a RW, because that is how it goes for most LH Russians, but I don't think it really matters for a guy like him.

Exactly. He's had good runs of play on both sides, and probably feels at least as comfortable on the right as on the left.

That’s why leafs don’t win sh.t

Ignore the other 6 games? You think he had a better game 6... 3 shots, 0 points, 0 hits and attempted the high risk pass/turnover that led to the goal against in OT?
