Also gonna be interesting to see how Talbot fares playing in Ottawa. He had a .911 save% last year with some of the best D numbers in front of him and....that wont be happening in Ottawa.

Nah, the only reason Kadri comes to Toronto is so Leafs management can take him up on kissing his arse.
Maybe he'll spend his day with the Cup back here. Perhaps a meet and greet in Maple Leaf Square? ;)

not a credible source.

That said, would technically fill holes we have
Only signing Subban if we're moving Holl is my guess.

Though if we're signing Subban, where does Sandin fit in? Subban isn't signing to be a #7 dman that only plays in case of injury.

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Liljegren
Giordano-Subban/Sandin

No love for Matt Luff? I think he's my top player that wasn't qualified.

And Balcers is technically being bought out.
I remember going to a Bulls pre-season scrimmage before he even made an OHL team. He was on the bubble to make the team at the time. He was the best player on the ice that day. Strong board player, physical, showed good offensive instincts. He obviously with the dominance he was displaying made the team and he has continued to grow into a pretty good player.

I would sign him for sure. Give him a 1-way deal, league minimum deal for 2 years. I might not pencil him onto the team depending on other signings. But, he would be a depended on call-up.

To be honest, I was only looking at production. Geno was over ppg last year. I think their offensive output will be pretty close over the next 4 years, so that's a more efficient contract.
There's more that factors into contracts than just most recent production though. The situations aren't remotely similar, and signing players in significant decline years is always going to be cheaper. Tavares won't be making that much through ages 36-40.

Malkin was 1 point over PPG last year, but he also missed half the season again. Even if Malkin is able to put up similar offensive production on a per-game basis (which is still highly questionable), he'll likely fall well behind in overall production and impact.

I think he'd fit the bottom lines really well. Not sure about his upside but he can be a pretty solid depth forward.

I'd give him the Bunting contract --- 2 years at 900k per. But anything cheaper and it's great.

Doesn't it burn a contract slot to loan a player out and he has a 2 year deal in Sweden. So, they wasted a contract spot for the next 2 years to have him play in Sweden. Then, for year 3 he comes over? Why would you do that?

Honestly I don't have the answer to that question. Players sent back down to Juniors don't count as contract spots. I'm not sure on Euros. The only answer I have, is it could make it easier to buy him out midseason, and bring him over, if there is a reason to do so.

So instead of a bucketful of salt, I should have said a mountain full of salt ;) But yeah, no real source is correct. Just thought it was interesting :) Wouldn't mind Subban coming back to the Habs, to be honest. Won't move the needle on upgrading the D but would provide entertainment (even if it may be office).

I don’t understand the tampering rules lol. So many deals already known

Teams can talk to players beforehand. Numbers can't be thrown around but unless those talks are recorded and video taped, they can easily work around the "no numbers can be shared" by just denying it.

I'd pass on Domi the person, but as a hockey player he's a fine 3rd liner and the dude has always loved the Leafs. I'd prefer not, but we know the Leafs do their homework.

Subban I'm interested in. Guy revitalized his career last year finally realizing he isn't the same guy he was in his Montreal days. A short term, low $$ deal intrigues me on the bottom pairing.

Looking at it from a 40,000 foot view, Ottawa did an awful lot of manoeuvring and spent quite a lot in assets to arguably be no better off in goal and not much cheaper either.
