Don't think TSN/Sportsnet have their shows starting until 11.Anyone has a stream by chance?
They're going to sign 5 career AHLers and a league minimum backup.
Even names like Strome and Marchment is wishing too much, IMO.
I would be happy to pay an asset to nab one of SJ's goalies. I like all 3 as a backup/tandem option.
Wouldve liked Holl traded before free agency for more freed-up cap. But I guess we're gonna have to go with what we have.
Mason Marchment
Zach-Aston Reese
Darren Helm
Eric Gubrandson
Would be my targets tomorrow.
Not sure there's a splash to be made. The team is set. They need a lot more secondary and depth players.
I agree though the Leafs should probably move out a little bit of salary to really change up the secondary make up of the team. But... we'll see. It might be more something that happens in a few days/weeks.
People get worked up on Day 1 of Free Agency, but there's a whole 2 months afterwards.
Tavares will be 34 when his contract ends, and signed prior to the flat cap. Malkin will be 36 when his contract starts, and he is a 35+ contract signed during the flat cap.Malkin taking 6.4 x 4 makes that Tavares contract feel like an even bigger kick to the dick.
Players can be traded after free agency opens.
A splash doesn’t need to be bringing in Kane or something. But we need a more capable forward group. Not sure there's a splash to be made. The team is set. They need a lot more secondary and depth players.

You’re right, it might be something we see unfold deeper in the off-season. I’m just interested to see if we do anything at all today. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are no additions to the roster today based on flexibility. Dubas might wait for the dust to settle and assess who is left.
We have a couple of candidates that can be leveraged in deals to shake up the middle of the roster, but overall I don’t think anything crazy will happen.
Giroux is pretty much cofirmed with the Sens. (from Al's bro)
So Dorion was a legend and Melnyk held him back? Crazy.

I'm not sure what this actually means, as he's contracted in Sweden until the end of 2023/24
Holy, they must have really high hopes for this kid as there was no great rush to sign him.You can buyout those contracts and what not.
It sounds like he'll stay in the SHL for the season regardless.
