Funny, the Leafs loss to Tampa wasn't because Tampa's top guys, it was their depth players who beat Toronto, namely Paul.

Leafs bottom 6 has to be changed, by at least a couple of players.

Kerfoot - 2 goals in 19 playoff games for the Leafs (4 in 37 career playoff games overall)
Mikheyev - 2 goals in 19 playoff games (both empty netters)
Engvall - 0 goals in 17 playoff games
Kase - 0 goals in 7 playoff games for the Leafs (2 in 31 career playoff games overall)
Simmonds - 0 goals in 9 playoff games for the Leafs
Spezza - 3 goals in 17 playoff games for the Leafs (all in 2021 against Montreal)
Kampf - 2 goals in 7 playoff games for the Leafs (3 in 16 career playoff games)
Blackwell - 1 goal in 7 playoff games for the Leafs

Yep. It's a pretty sad group. Obviously you're not expecting 10 goals in 17 playoff games from these guys, and frankly Kampf, Blackwell, and Spezza's production was fine given their roles, but the other guys should have all produced ~2-4 more goals in the number of playoff games they've played for us, or simply not been playing (e.g. Simmonds).

Kerfoot gets his bonus today and then becomes part of the futures to Ottawa?
Possibly but if we moved Kerfoot I would use his money on two players in the 2-2.5 million range instead of going after one bigger fish at 4ish million.

Here’s my guesses for today with a few signings by the Leafs today

Max Domi
PK Subban
Samsonov

Surely we could get something of use for Kerfoot? A 2nd or 3rd or prospect, no?

He only gets paid 750K in real $$ this year, is coming off a 50+ point season, can play C or W (though should be on the wing IMO), play the PK, and generally move around your top 9 as needed, and is apparently a coach's dream in that he does whatever is asked of him.

Yea, I don't think a 2nd is unreasonable for him, or if not a 2nd, then something like a 3rd + 5th. Not from a top team, but from a team that struggles to attract UFAs, but that wants to try and improve this year, and/or which has internal budget issues (e.g. Buffalo, Ottawa, etc).

Who were the Malgin type players last year because I remember a lot of Simmonds, Clifford, Kase, Mikheyev, Kampf, Engvall, Blackwell.
Probably preferring to Petan, Brooks, Aberg, Boyd and the malgin himself..we went away from these type of players and got the Clifford's, simmonds, kampfs to bring more value in the bottom 6

I would absolutely love the leafs to pick up kadri.. Hes from the city, clutch stanley cup winner and provides grit and toughness while being a skilled goalscorer

Reimer?

I'd move Kerfoot to sign Marchment today. The latter will get more and term but he'd add an element that I think would suit the Leafs top 6 well. He fits in the short-term.

Not sure the Leafs want to go after term players though. They seem to want to leave as much cap as possible to re-sign the players that matter.

D. Strome and Samsonov are my two top targets

Milano, Balcers, Aube-Kubel, Dahlen, and Donato are guys I'm interested in (of guys that weren't qualified).

I also like C. Miller, Kulak, Comrie, and Stolarz.
