Nah, Stannis had tons of battle experience and steadfast convictions. More like Lou.

Dubas is more of a summer child, charismatic but lacking in experience and ability, like Renly Baratheon.
Thats true. Dubas is more like Rob Stark then, inherited a whole lot from his parents with no real exp(Leafs with AM, MM and WN) and ended up killing himself with a bad mistake(Signing JT and re-signing WN, AM and MM).

I appreciate you putting this together. Doesn't this prove the point where we started?

If you count 12F/6D/2G (no Sandin, Carlsson, Bogosian) you have 1. FLA - 36, 2. TOR - 33.4, 3. TBL - 30.5. Hardly a runaway for TOR. Even if you include Sandin/Carlsson/Bogosian they aren't favorites.

not sure i said "runaway", but yes if you remove Sandin and count zero for those remaining forward spots you can make them out to trail florida.

of course, every year dubas finds quality good value guys for those bottom spots for peanuts.

You said "safe bet" which I would strongly disagree with based on the data you presented. Who are the players left in FA that will make up 3.5 GSVA for the money the Leafs have remaining? I've been clamoring for Balcers - FLA just signed him and his 0.9 GSVA for league minimum. Correct me if I'm wrong but that value isn't there in FA anymore.

Gaudreau said that Nationwide arena has been a fun place to play. I don't blame him because anything is an upgrade over the Saddledump and its library atmosphere

Just love how Calgary took a massive L. I hope Tkachuk leaves, too.

there's a crapton of players left.

Last year Dubas picked up kase 0.9 and Blackwell 0.8 for nothing.

hometown boy Strome and his 1.9 is still sitting out there too. and plenty of others.

Of course, i'm hoping spots are left open for some of our kids, who i'm confident a couple of can come up and give us good value too.

I think thats a pretty good package for Miller. Like you, I don't think Nucks would do it.
The value is subjective as the 1st hopefully wouldn't be a good one and Kerfoot would have to be willing to re-sign. I'm not cognizant enough about Vancouver's cap situation to determine if trading away Miller is the best solution for alleviating that problem.

Do you seriously believe that there would only be one bidder for a 50 point top 6 forward that PKs and has a salary of $750,000? In this world, more than one bidder means competition. Perhaps you are hinting at collusion among non Leaf GMs.
I wasn't hinting at anything ..

I thought I was quite clear that if the Leafs first went out and spent Kerfoot's cap space putting them +$3.5 mil over the salary max limit, that then if Leafs tried to deal him the whole league would know how desperate a situation Leafs would be in requiring a cap dump of Kerfoot's contract to become cap compliant again, and thus his value in return less.

Leafs have much better leverage and trading power shopping Kerfoot the player first for the best return, and then once they have that re-captured cap space spend it as they see fit.

How are you on trading Kerfoot for assets, replacing him with Strome (who will be asking for more than league min for sure..how much do you think?) and then signing Sandin + playing the rookies to round out the lineup?

Chychrun, crouse, bjugstad for nylander, kerfoot, holl and sandin

Sign bergeron $6 million x 3 years
Sign Subban $2 millions x 2 years

Bunting. Matthews. Marner
Tavares. Bergeron. Robertson
Crouse. Bjugstad. Xxxxxx
Engvall. Kampf. NAK

Rielly. Brodie
Gio. Lily
Muzzin. Subban

And more to the point, trading Muzzin just means they have to go find another Muzzin type to replace him anyway. Deck chairs....
Yup, if we move Muzzin we lose a very valuable element of our defensive core

Rielly - Brodie
Gio - Lilly
Sandin - Holl

That's nice on paper, but will get bullied by a heavy forecheck come playoff time. If we deal muzzin we 100% need a younger replacement

Longer it goes. The better the leafs get good deals

Milano. Strone. Motte. ZAR rask all out there.

Soooooo we going to do anything? kinda disappointing all the guys I really wanted either never happened or signed else where

Didn't think there would be too much movement at all from us.

The cap barely went up(despite revenues rocking) and we are already a top 5 elite team in the league that needed to make goaltending changes. Once those were done it's just minor moves here and there.

Kerfoot and Holl maybe?, Sandin needs to be dealt with and a couple of bottom 6 forwards that may be rookie promotions or cheapie FA signings.

There are always surprises though I guess.

So is Kadri going to end up cucking himself lol?

So much talk about him relaxing and going to let all the teams come to him with their pitches and then he would decide. Seems like a lot of those premier teams have already made their decisions. People like Copp and Trochek taking prime spots, but I guess he wants more money but not much of that is left.
