What is he worth? It depends on what teams can spend. And what they need. It shows that Girardi is seen as a valuable player around the league.

Yes. I agree. These 7-year deals the moment players hit UFA-status (Which is always after age 27) are crippling the market and causing so many buy outs along the way. 4-year deals are healthy and GMs should change their stance on negotiating. Maybe the NHL can change the contract length to 6 years for teams having the player's rights and 4 years for the other teams. The 7 and 8-year contracts are toxic

True. But Schultz is an intriguing player
As long as Girardi isn't in the top pairing

Like I've said many times, the stuff we are looking does not give a good picture and does not found a good platform for analyzing players from all perspectives. Many refuses to realize it, but its more or less a fact.

Does that make Girardi a good signing? That is another issue. But there is so much more to hockey than looking at stats based on shots alone.

Yea the Lightning must have some super secret stat that nobody else in the world his figured out and they know that Girardi is actually a very good player.

"Internal stats" from individual teams is one of the most overrated things out there.

And saying stats are "based on shots alone" indicates you have no idea what you're talking about with regards to the stats.

No. The most overrated thing is "intangibles"

Why on earth would Nashville do that?

Please say it's because we're trading them Nash with money retained for Ekholm :D

Either Nashville is patching up that terrible 3rd pairing OR Emelin is meant to replace whoever is going to be the center piece of the Duchene trade. Now we wait.

Got to think we're gonna sign another winger and/or center, otherwise guys like Puempel and Nieves are starting game 1.

Faksa on the Stars is of interest for 3C

I saw someone make the point on twitter, they might be looking to move him because they signed Hanzal

One of the most coveted NCAA free agents a few years ago...

perhaps he comes to us as part of Nash to Nashville???

There is nobody I would trade Skjei for. We wouldn't get any of the elite young centers like McDavid, Draisaitl, Scheifele, Eichel, Barkov, Matthews, etc. and I'm not trading Skjei for anything less like MacKinnon or Reinhart.

No on Skjei for Reinhart
Reinhart might/not ultimately be better.
MacK, yes, Rein, no

we can do ELC based Buch to offset youth of Reinhart
Buchnevich + Zuc + 2 Ranger 3rds
for
Reinhart + 2 Sabres 2nds + cap relief

Yes, can we please trade for Radek Faksa, i really really like him and he would fit our needs almost perfectly. I think he has quite a bit of upside to him aswell.

I'd easily move JTM for him, i'd hope we get a decent pick/prospect along but honestly, i think i'd do the trade 1 for 1 too.

He's the closest i've found while looking for "the next Backlund". That 2 way "possession" beast who still scores like a 2nd liner. Faksa doesn't yet but i think he has upside.

Sakic can set whatever price he wants. So can Nashville and they already said the top 4 are off limits for Duchene. Now Murray is the centerpiece for Colorado? Sakic's market is drying up. Gorton is posturing by saying miller can play center but Sakic is for real with his statement?

He's been hanging on for so long saying the market is going to get better. Well teams are spending that cash, filling roster spots. Is the market getting better, wait for opening day?

He can hang onto his guys all he wants, his price is too high. Guys are going to play worse, their value will drop. He's going to do his version of the drouin saga, settle for a top prospect and a cap dump in this case. Then his lottery pick will fall again. Have fun.
