I don't, however that doesn't mean the sum of all the 2nd lines parts don't equate to a true 2nd line.

Zucc and Hayes I could see making some noise together.
Nash and Hayes to me isn't as exciting.
Maybe the trio can find chemistry?

We're not going backwards though, with some decent deplyment our D just went from bottom 5 to atleast top 10 in the league.
We will be weaker down the middle but with some smart signings our overall F group will just be slightly weaker then last season.

Andersson is nice but doubt he's ready..

Agree which is why i said 'he can be' in the post before that. Needs to be given an opportunity and if he takes another step forward he becomes a legit #2C.

He's a borderline 50pt center last year with only 7pts on the PP. He's 25. When did Brass hit his stride? 27, 28? I think currently contructed that Miller will be given an opportunity to takeover the 2C spot, but Hayes has all the potential to be. I don't see the point of gathering young players, as everyone here seemingly wants us to do, if a 49pt center is going to be given up on at 25 in terms of whether or not they can improve. What? If Andersson isn't lighting up the league at 21 are we going to ship him out for futures?

And yes, he needs to improve defensively, but that's just putting in the work.

2018-19, the total cap-hit is 5.74m, but we have 7.8m of Nash and 1.65m of Grabner coming off the books to re-sign Vesey, Skjei, Miller and Hayes
2019-20, the total cap-hit goes up by 1m, with 4 players being UFA/RFA which we all want to keep, right? Now, that's a tough one. It still saves 4.4m due to Girardi and Staal both being on the team had they not been bought out though.
2020-21, Only Kreider coming off his contract of our current squad, but the cap penalty drops from 6.7m to 5m.

2019-20 seems to be the most difficult season to work around but they will manage.

Zooks and Hayes usually do produce well together.

Nash and Hayes were horrible together last season but that doesn't mean they can not get better as a pair.

G got signed for only 2 years. No one was taking Girardi for 4 years even with money retained. Same is likely the case with Staal if they have to buy him out.

He had 3 years left at 5.5m. If you retain 50%, that is 3 years at 2.75m. Now he gets 2 years at 3m. Not that much different.

I was surprised to hear he was going for 6.5 mill. I was hoping for a 1 year 3 mill but anything more coming off knee surgery is a huge risk.

We can help Hayes out better though by giving him either soft usage or two wingers who drive "possession". Give him Jokinen/Jagr on one wing and Zuke/Kreider/Fast on the other wing.
Do pretty much the same with Miller, atleast give them one "possession" driver each.

Id encourage all GMs to try for more 4 year deals and look at 5 years as a limit. I do not like how often the long term deals end up badly. I think those anchor/buyott contracts are bad for the game.

The NHL and NHLPA need to fix the UFA cesspool. It will never happen but ideally, the length of a contract should be 4 for UFAs and 6 for teams currently having the rights to a player. These 8-year deals and 7 for UFAs are killing the league. GMs are outbidding each other with term going up to 7, and these ridiculous NMCs and NTCs. Resulting in all the buy-outs. It's ridiculous. GMs are like kids in a candy store. Can't control themselves
