Over at the Devils board--there's some suggestions to sign 45 year old Jagr---meanwhile they've just added a bunch of older AHL'ers--29 year olds Brian Gibbons and Brian Strait and 36 year old Bracken Kearns or maybe they hope that some of these guys will play for them. New Jersey already tanking for next year's No. 1.

Yes, can we please trade for Radek Faksa, i really really like him and he would fit our needs almost perfectly. I think he has quite a bit of upside to him aswell.

I'd easily move JTM for him, i'd hope we get a decent pick/prospect along but honestly, i think i'd do the trade 1 for 1 too.

He's the closest i've found while looking for "the next Backlund". That 2 way "possession" beast who still scores like a 2nd liner. Faksa doesn't yet but i think he has upside.

There is always that Nash and Hitchcock connection. Dallas had $11m in space still. Retain some salary.

And can we please talk to Vegas about lindberg? They have too many centers, 2 right d. Holden and a 5th?

Follow up public ltr to kevin shattenkirk

Dear KS,

earlier wrote if you compromised on term we could compromise on per yr

said 8.25 to start
understanding of follow up + 15m for 2 seasons after
= 23.25 for 3 years

While commanding 4th yr we can live with, you generously only took 26+

I speak for myself, but on behalf of bernmeister and anyone who agrees with me,
thanks for being a nice guy who took big picture into consideration
and chose not to be a greedy *******.

Also, thanks for making me look good on these numbers.

I hope/expect you will not have to wait until retirement/later years to take the good will you are banking today, and convert it into actual $$$$$$$$.

Now, if you bring your A game and A effort as we expect you will, this will be an enjoyable, profitable collaboration.

Let the love fest begin.

Thanks,

bernmeister

perhaps he comes to us as part of Nash to Nashville???

He's a career AHL goalie. Skapski/Halverson level. No thank you

No on Skjei for Reinhart
Reinhart might/not ultimately be better.
MacK, yes, Rein, no

we can do ELC based Buch to offset youth of Reinhart
Buchnevich + Zuc + 2 Ranger 3rds
for
Reinhart + 2 Sabres 2nds + cap relief

Why would Buffalo trade Reinhart for a winger and lower picks? I don't see it happening.

What did you have in mind?

What i have in mind? Trade for Faksa is what's on my mind :)

I'd pay anything up to 1 for 1 for JTM, anything that's the same or less value then that i do for Faksa.

Eh, i don't think they'd do that but worth looking at... If it takes JTM then i still do it, but sure, look at other options first.

Common sense? No, but this league is crazy. Kulikov getting paid big, a 3rd for emelin, buyout Smith-pelley and give Boyle $2.5m per?

It all comes down to goals. Dallas wants to get back into the playoffs. The new coach will have some pull, his own system and ideas.

I know it's wishful thinking but you never know anymore. Retain money, conditional pick if he doesn't re-sign, Dallas gets a guy on their middle lines that doesn't have to carry the load, chips in some points, kills penalties, matches up on defensive assignments, puck possession. Keep him away from other western teams.

Maybe they have their own advance stats.

Thinking about it, Girardi getting $3x2 actually gives me hope that maybe Staal isn't as hard to move as we think haha.

Palec IS a disaster
It is possible we still come out ahead since BA is a friggin magician

But I would still push, if Marc will go
Staal +
for
Jimi Howard and possible +

we can add Pavelec for insurance purposes and a legit G prospect Wall, Halverson] as part of that deal

I don't disagree, and i'm all for looking at other options before throwing JTM in their face :)

But if they don't bite then i have no issues trading JTM to get Faksa.

Having over 12m invested in 2 goalies is not solving anything. I rather have Pavelec as a backup for 1 year at 1.3m than Howard for the next 2 years at 5.2m. I know this gets Staal off the books, but as I said before, the contract Girardi got offered as a FA makes you wonder how GMs look at him and also Staal. Maybe there's a better offer than a 33-year old backup getting paid better than 90% of our team

Fortunately it's harder than ever to land the #1 pick.

I'm hopeful that Jensen gets a long look this year. The guy plays a style that should suit this system well. Bigger guy, defensively responsible.
