For about 20mins. Soon as I saw Ekholm play here revised my view and within one game. That said Ekholm is a shutdown D. The feature that was surprising to me that he was both that and somebody with offensive verve.

Ekholm has been a stud for us. But much better than anybody would have thought. I think got to a level here that surprised a lot of pundits.

Maybe Walman finds a next level here too. I'm prepared to look at that.

Once we saw what we had, I think it dawned on everyone that Ekholm was exactly what we needed and then some. We pretty much got two elite players out of that deal, since he helped elevate Bouch to another level, along with Bouch getting Barrie's power play spot.

My first impression of Walman was very reminiscent of my first impression of Ekholm.

I think I've figured out whom he reminds me of (on ice): Rasmus Andersson

Not tall, but solidly built, doesn't possess burning high end speed,built but owns great 4 way movement and has a willingness to push the play into dangerous areas. Beyond that you've got similar size, skating, and love to handle the puck.
