  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

For about 20mins. Soon as I saw Ekholm play here revised my view and within one game. That said Ekholm is a shutdown D. The feature that was surprising to me that he was both that and somebody with offensive verve.

Ekholm has been a stud for us. But much better than anybody would have thought. I think got to a level here that surprised a lot of pundits.

Maybe Walman finds a next level here too. I'm prepared to look at that.

Once we saw what we had, I think it dawned on everyone that Ekholm was exactly what we needed and then some. We pretty much got two elite players out of that deal, since he helped elevate Bouch to another level, along with Bouch getting Barrie's power play spot.

My first impression of Walman was very reminiscent of my first impression of Ekholm.

I think I've figured out whom he reminds me of (on ice): Rasmus Andersson

Not tall, but solidly built, doesn't possess burning high end speed, built but owns great 4 way movement and has a willingness to push the play into dangerous areas. Beyond that you've got similar size, skating, and love to handle the puck.

Is green good? ;)

He had a bad game last night easily his worst as an oiler but that was a skeleton crew and the team didn’t bring it. I think since we’ve acquired him we’ve only played 1 game with our entire D corp? Correct me if I’m wrong on that but either way it’s not many. Without Connor and Leon too this team is just hanging by a thread right now.

It's been a few weeks and like... He's fine but he doesn't really seem like anything special.

I think we were in greater need of a Brandon Carlo. Someone who can shut things down. Instead of wasting money and games on Klingberg, trading for an injured guy and Max Jones, and bringing in Walman, we could've used the same assets, and maybe tossing in a Ty Emberson, Philp, or Colin Delia, to get Carlo, Brian Dumoulin, and James Reimer.

He's a #4.

Has had some bad turnovers lately
I would say 3-4 and high event at that. he comes as advertised, but not as how people were building him up to be some top pairing D. He's sure not that here. He's a guy that can make some plays, have some hands and a player like this looks better on a shit club because he can take gambles and it doesn't matter. on a club where every play is more important he can't and shouldn't take the same risks here. Problem is he's not alltogether reliable. He has less offensive upside than Booch and my look is he makes some bad decisions with puck. The book that I've read on Walman is high event D that makes some head scratching decisions.

Has quicker feet than Bouchard. That's a quality dimension for a defenseman's overall game. Decision making appears to be as bad as Bouchard's.

When the team gets healthy, Walman needs to see multiple games on power play #1. Let him get accustomed to McDavid and Draisaitl and let them decide.

They haven't let the guy get comfortable at all. Played him with everyone, both sides etc.

Typical Oilers bullshit.
