Rangers find a way to get an impactful C without losing an important roster player and this "rebuild on the fly" is done.

I wasn't a proponent of Shatty but it was only because I thought he'd get 7x7. Very impressed with him taking less to play in NY.

I'd say Nash, a first, and a prospect not named Andersson, Chytil, or Shestyorkin for a C. Not sure what it gets us.

Marleau still out there. I still think it's a possibility we pick up a winger and move Miller to center.

Not saying I agree with that scenario but it's a possibility.

Regarding cap space remember a lot can change year to year...wouldn't be surprised to see guys like Hayes, Miller, etc moved at some point t rather than signed for bigger contract as a player like Andersson is maybe ready to contribute

Rangers need to keep Nash or trade for futures only because they need his cap hit to expire.

I'd rather go with the young kids. Joe is the only older guy out there I'd be willing to give money to.

Marleau has 3yr offers. Rangers can and should only offer them a 1yr deal. They are out.

Rangers should only be taking 1yr contract line 4 PKers at this point unless they can swing a blockbuster trade.

McKenzie already said we're out on Marleau, I think

Think you are confusing that that with MacKinnon

Stop trying to trade for MacKinnon too. We literally cannot afford to trade for Duchene let alone someone who is far more valuable that isn't even being traded.

Trading him doesn't absolve them of his cap hit?

I get what your saying but he's got decent value and there's no reason to lose him for nothing when his contract expires.

I would explore a Buchnevich for Duchene trade and so should the Rangers. Rangers aren't getting MacKinnon but Duchene, who is a perfect fit is there for the taking.

I don't know what to think of some folks penciling in Andersson on the 3rd line out of camp. Not a fan of Hayes centering the 2nd line at all and have no idea how ready Andersson really is considering the talk of how polished of a prospect he is.

Right. You trade him for a first at the deadline or you lose him for the 8 million dollars in cap space which he leaves you. Not exactly losing him for nothing.

They cannot take salary with term back for Nash without screwing up their cap.

Joe Sakic wouldn't explore that unless it's Skjei + Buchnevich and maybe even a 2nd.

Buchnevich has more value that any other name being linked to Duchene. Let Sakic and Gorton figure out the rest.

I'd be hesitant to trade Buchnevich... have to figure he's in Gorton's long term plans especially once they rid themselves of Nash.

They can totally afford to trade for Duchene. If they want to is a different story.
