Joe Sakic wouldn't explore that unless it's Skjei + Buchnevich and maybe even a 2nd.

There hasn't been one deal even rumored that comes close to Skjei and Buch plus a pick. Stop it. That is the price you pay for someone who is cost controlled for a few years not a guy looking at UFA in 2Y.

Matt Duschene is overated. I would of rather kept Stepan then trade valuable pieces for him. He is a career -61 and his points are really not much better then Stepan. He is a .73 points and Stepan is .69. So why trade alot away for this guy. To me he isn't worth much more then what we got for Stepan.

I'd be hesitant to trade Buchnevich... have to figure he's in Gorton's long term plans especially once they rid themselves of Nash.

Rangers are deep at winger and shallow at center. Centers have more value than wingers and are harder to get.

Duchene's contract is out in two years when McDonagh (and others) need to be resigned, and Duchene would be replaceable but Andersson/Chytil.

If they can get Duchene for a Buchnevich package it's a no brainer and keeps him away from CLB, NYI, PIT

Duchene is being grossly overrated on our board lately. Why exactly are we trading Buch? Kid has the potential to be a real impact player for us.

I'm hyperboling more and more the more this Duchene Sakic thing goes on but ya, the point is, they don't do the deal without Skjei as the center piece and we don't do any with Skjei as the center piece especially if we have to add.

Duchene was on a horrific defensive team. Is a better skater and offensive threat than Stepan. Plus he wins face offs.

Stepan on a great team puts up .69 and Duchene on a terrible team puts up .73

Additionally, they have different skill sets. Duchene is a better skater, stronger, faster, and has better hands. Although he hasn't hit that 80+ point plateau he was pegged at. Stepan is for sure the better 2 way player though.

No one is adding Skjei. Buchnevich would be the center piece.

Maybe it's just me, but I have time seeing GMJG parting with anymore 1st round picks. And when your captain is your biggest recruiting tool for fellow players, I have a hard time seeing him getting moved anytime soon.

I only see him be willing to trade 1st rounders if they're going to stay with us for a while now. I think that's his MO.

He's not. We only speculated that if they decided to not sign Smith, Shattenkirk, and go into a full rebuild.

Sure. Now that they have Shattenkirk they should not trade McDonagh.

But of course now they will need to find a way to pay him in two years.

Duchene and MacKinnon are both a tier above Stepan. I watch 60 odd Avalanche games a year being on the west coast and the support they get in Colorado is pathetic. Duchene has been paired with 3rd line quality players for 1.5 to 2 years now. Landeskog and MacKinnon both get better linemates than Duchene.

I don't have the stats to back it up with but 5 on 5, it feels very disjointed and the duchene line just doesn't have the quality of players to make plays off the rush or cycle the puck. Very futile attempts at offense at 5v5 for Duchene's line. Their PP is bad too. Duchene is definiitely capable of being elite offensive talent and he's not bad defensively.

I would like Duchene, but I'm not moving Skjei for him on the HOPE that he can out produce what Stepan did for us.

That's a valid opinion but I'm stating Sakic will not do a deal unless it came with a young top 4 D man. He's held out for 18 months now for that reason. Said no to Hamonic + 1st + prospect, insists on one of the top 4 D from Nashville, speculating on Murray in CBJ in what would be a bigger add than to the overall package than NSH.

NYRHF BOARD when we have Stepan: He sucks, trade him, move him for futures.

*NYR FO Trades him for futures*

NYRHF BOARD now: zOMG Stepan is better than Duchene and MacKinnon.

:shakehead:

I hear you and agree with what you're saying. I would just rather not move Buchnevich. Much rather see if a deal could be made around Hayes/Miller, D prospect, draft pick or even work something out like swapping contracts like Soderberg for Staal if he waives.
