Yeah there needs to be a serious shakeup, everyone should be on the table at this point. I'd personally hold on to Nylander, as he was the only core forward who played with guts and actually showed up every night. I'm torn between moving Dubas or not. It was his mistakes as a rookie gm that ultimately led to the Leafs being the failure they currently are. Since then though he's made some phenomenal moves/trades. Then again it still wasn't enough, it's just such a tough spot to be in. He gave the keys to the city to these guys as a rookie and this is what we get.

Only thing that is for certain though is that we cannot just run it back. Reason I single out Marner is his lack of effort and level of entitlement. He plays a soft game, doesn't show up when you need it and it's just not the right mindset for the playoffs. I can't imagine seeing Bennett or Tkachuk smile and laugh after being punched in the face, ridiculous. I don't think there's a player like Tkachuk available for trade but we gotta start exploring options, this current formula has not worked.
Nylander’s shot on the game tying was brilliant. Saw Bob drop his glove to play the wraparound and fired the puck past him. That’s a playoff goal for sure.

I’d agree on Marner, great regular season guy that seems to struggle in the playoffs, still had nice point totals from last series.

It’s all hard, you wonder if they’ll figure it out. If they’ll grow into what’s needed in the post season. For Tampa it took bringing in Maroon and him telling the guys what it took for St. Louis. We saw Stamkos jumping in front of pucks, limping down the hall and re-emerging which kept giving his team life last year. Seems Florida learned from them, but it still took Vezina Bob and a new level of playoff Tkachuk to make it to the 3rd.

You're not going to win in the playoffs when your big guns don't produce. You may win a game or two if some of the supporting cast shows up, but over a 7 game series you're not winning if your top guys can't even muster a single goal the entire series. Nylander was the only one of the "core 4" who looked dangerous.
Stop it, it was the refs!

Matthews scored 0 goals because Bennett stabbed him in the throat in game 1 and he couldn't recover.

It's a bitter pill to swallow, but it is what it is. I was dead wrong about Florida, these guys are true competitors. A lot of players in the league, not so many competitors.

The positive I can take out of this series is now knowing how far a high compete level, grit, determination can really take you. And how quick a shitty soft entitled mindset can sink you, regardless of how much skill you have. Florida absolutely hit a home run with the Tkachuk trade, Leafs need to make their version of that move going into next-season now. Moved a core winger who was soft and wasn't getting it done, massive culture shift in the locker room and that shit is infectious.
Best take in the thread.

This is exactly what the Panthers learned last year when they got swept by Tampa. It's nearly identical to be honest.

Leafs locker room needs a shakeup, not a tear down. Too many guys are too comfortable. Rielly's "I don't want anything to change" statement should be haunting every Leafs fan right now.

That line screams boys club, not team.

Do you have any links to it as I don't recall it. Lots of penalties pointed out with 0 evidence it seems.

On the flip side:

Where was your same energy when the Florida player does this near the end of the third with no call?

Lmaolol every time a leaf goes down, someone needs to be suspended

Now that their season's over and they do have a positive (finally won a round thanks to JT), does anybody know if they're going to have another "John Tavares Day"?

I keep reading Toronto needs to trade for a player like Tkachuk…

Um. Like a guy that is a finalist for the Hart?Yeah. Sure. Every team has two guys like him. They grow on trees. Toronto should trade Timmins and a 6th rounder for him.

Toronto should also trade for someone like Makar and someone like Vasilevskiy. Maybe pick up a Kempe and a Pavelski and why not a Rantanen too. Dubas should get a bunch of guys like them.

It's a little drafty in here. Somebody in Florida forgot to close that playoff window from last year. I guess it's gonna stay open for a few more lol.

So the Reilly shot was a goal, where did these new camera angles come from this morning? We can clearly see now that it went in immediately. Before the play was dead.

As an Islanders fan I've had a lot of fun making fun of pajama boy, booing him and watching his career go down the toilet. But I'm starting to feel sorry for him because his homecoming has become a full-blown nightmare. I'll probably shake it off during the off-season and resume laughing in the fall. I hope.

Bush league non call. Amateurs on Twitter are able to see it clearly cross the line before "the play was dead" but these guys cant. Enjoy your fake win though. I cant respect it.

Martinook: GP: 5 G: 3 A: 7 P: 10

Marner: GP: 5 G: 1 A: 2 P: 3
Matthews: GP: 5 G: 0 A: 2 P: 2
Nylander: GP: 5 G: 2 A: 1 P: 3
Tavares: GP: 5 G: 0 A: 1 P: 1

Martinook cap hit: 1.8 million
Toronto’s “core four” cap hit: 40.5 million

Unbelievable.

Any Maple Leafs not calling for drastic changes will get what they deserve. Which is another team that isn’t able to compete in the playoffs. Dubas had an amazing opportunity with the group he inherited and he completely botched it.
