So, trade his rights? He may end up signing with the Panthers when his college season is done, but, by returning for his senior year, he can become a free agent this summer. If the Panthers are using him in trade talks why would he sign with them when he can choose to play most anywhere?

Remember, Zach Hymen walked from the Panthers after his college career ended.

He probably doesn't know the Panthers are including him in trade talks. I mean Devine would just be one piece. Yes, he won't hold the same value as a top prospect under team control like in the CHL.

Looks like the price may be dropping on him. Philly has two retention slots available so they could pay some of his contract but we've got the space to fit him in both of the next few seasons. He'd be a good pairing with Niko on the second line. Flyers Not Receiving Expected Interest In Rasmus Ristolainen
No thanks to Ristolainen. Philly fans claim he's been good this year, and I believe them--that fanbase doesn't overhype their guys imo. However, Ristolainen has a decade's long track record of being complete ass (including in Philadelphia). He's also in the Huberdeau/Weegar mold of taking horrendous, zero upside, untimely penalties that cost wins.

He's basically discount Seth Jones and has only ever been on bad teams. As a second pairing guy at half price (2.55) signed for a few years, it's not the worst thing ever barring a Chiarot level overpay. We wouldn't even need to LTIR Tkachuk for him.

The dream would be to pry Dobson from the Islanders once Lou wakes up and sees how that team as constructed has no future in the Metro.

You can see frustration with Jones at this point and why there is talk of him willing to possibly expand his trade list to work with Hawks

Nothing he said was incorrect or false here either

He clearly wants to move on and get out of Chicago but he himself has acknowledged his contract is issue

He kind of sounds like Luongo at the tail end of his Vancouver run. Definitely seems like he’s demoralized with the situation he’s in.

People had way too high of expectations when he went to Chicago so he was always going to be a bit of a letdown, but with the entire team cratering it puts even more pressure on him. And with his contract and the NMC it’s made it hard for the team to move him.

He’s not the only reason or the biggest reason why the team is where it’s at, but he hasn’t done enough to help either. And you look at a guy like Bedard who’s already a superstar and being surrounded with middling to trash forwards, it makes a guy like Jones also stand out in a negative way.

Is he a good leader? He wears an A and he’s on a young team. I’ve see that the culture in their locker room isn’t in a good place. Do you think he is part of the reason why?

I disagree with a lot here.

Luongo's situation was bad because management wanted to move on from him (the former Captain who was part of a choker core) and give the net to Schneider. But the Canucks were struggling to move his money. I don't believe the Blackhawks actively want to trade Jones, and it looks like Jones is just fed up with losing--not that he's soured on the whole org.

I don't think people had any expectations when he went to Chicago. We all knew that the trade was bad and the contract would be disastrous. Idk about the Chicago media and local fans, but the wider hockey world hasn't pilloried Jones' underperformance like they've done for Nurse, Huberdeau, or DuBois.

Bedard isn't a superstar. He's not even a 1C. That team gets caved every night because the have like four decent players, all of whom have to play above their heads.

Idk anything about Jones' leadership, but I haven't seen too much about the players having issues. Chicago obviously had problems with the old regime, and the coaches have been bad, but I haven't seen anything about the players not getting along or having attitude/effort questions.

TL;DR I don't have any worries about Seth Jones beyond the contract.

Fair arguments. I 100% think Bedard is the real deal, but he’s shouldering most of the offense because everyone else is either young and developing, middling, or garbage. Give him a guy to play off of, you’ll see his numbers jump imo.

I think Jones is fed up with the bottom-feeder performances, which okay I understand that. I’m sure a lot of guys on that team are unhappy. But is he doing enough on his end to help the team?

Let’s say we get him, he’s at 50% retained, that’s another what 6 years with a NMC. And he’s 30 now. He’s been on bad teams for almost his entire career. Can he hit another level in the playoffs? Are we better off keeping the assets we’d have to give? And is he going to buy in? Those are my concerns that’s all
