Do you have any links to it as I don't recall it. Lots of penalties pointed out with 0 evidence it seems.

On the flip side:

Where was your same energy when the Florida player does this near the end of the third with no call?

Should've bottled your energy and sent it to the leafs, they could've used it to score a goal.

Toronto failed because it's their nature to fail. Despite the resources, tradition, etc, first trip past the first round in many years and they acted like they won it all. The team was sloppy, soft and careless throughout the series and Florida was much better. I picked Fla in 6 but am surprised it wasn't a sweep.

Whining about refs and no-goals when you got spanked in five games by a "non-traditional sun belt team" makes it even more pathetic.
If we are talking about tradition, the Leafs have one for not doing anything in the playoffs and that has been the case for decades at this point. They are actually mediocre as far as franchise go and the only reasons they have any pedigree is because of their original 6 status and the city they are located in that supports them no matter what.

IMO Marner is the guy who needs to go. He doesn't work hard enough and is invisible when games get physical. I've been trying to look for options to trade him for, can't really think of anything. Nylander is a legit 1RW and actually shows up and will be cheaper. I'd attempt to re-sign Matthews, ship out Marner for help around the roster. If Matthews doesn't re-sign before July, you gotta ship him out as well and rebuild. Far too risky to play out the last year of his contract to UFA. But Marner is a big name, he's the hometown kid and a huge part of this core, they need a real shakeup.

The core going forward should be Matthews/Nylander/Rielly/Lily/Knies/Woll, you build around those guys. Once Tavares' contract plays out, you either re-sign him for cheap or let him go. If he wants anything over 6M let him walk, he's done nothing in the most important part of the year to suggest he deserves a big contract. The culture overall needs to change, especially with management. f*** the players feelings and forget being friends with them, the commitment should be to the team and building a championship team, not maintaining a relationship with the players. It's like when the boss is just a friend in the workplace, it breeds complacency.

I can see Keefe/Dubas/Shanny all being let go after the draft, I think it would be dumb to ship them out now and then bring in a gm pre-draft who isn't prepared. I'm torn about Dubas though.
Matthews and Marner need to go. These guys are hilariously overated.

Tavares needs bought out.

That team is a mess.

Full props to the Panthers. They are a very good team.

Credit where credit is due. Relentless forecheck. Bob played outstanding. And the Leafs scored just two goals in every game. Not going to win many series that way.

Leafs won the OT battle in Round 1. Florida won it Round 2.

Florida deserved to win. Good luck in the ECF.

Toronto’s top guys didn’t show up. Same thing happened with the Rangers. Now we are both golfing together next week. I hope Toronto realizes that firing their coach or GM may not be the issue but with the core. You pay all these guy so much money and they don’t show up when it matters the most? I am only saying that because Rangers fired their coach already but it’s not going to be enough.

Now Florida, happy for you guys. Worked your ass off and even when people counted you out, still managed to upset two teams who were the favorites.

Looking forward to the ECF!

To make a slightly inflammatory post, does this series mean that Tkachuk is the best American skater in the world right now? I thought it was between Matthews and Chucky

Your original post said their playoff record was 5-7. They lost four games to Florida and two to Tampa. 2+4=6. It’s not hard. Honest.

In a Win Loss record, the Wins go first. Then, now stay with me here…… the Losses go second. Win Loss Record. Got it?

Now comes the hard part: 4 wins against TB - 1 against FL. 5 wins. That’s the 5. Still following? Now…. 3 losses to TB - 4 losses to FL. That’s the 7. Now putting it all together………… 5 wins and 7 losses in playoffs. That’s the 5-7. Got it?

There aren’t many coaches I care to listen to their media interactions. But Paul Maurice press conferences never get old. The ends of the spectrum are Torts who barely says anything, then opposite end is Maurice who tells his life story hahahaha

No, I don’t. They lost 2 to Tampa. Which, you know, is my point. Again, 2+4=6.

Got it?

Maurice clearly loves the sound of his own voice.

IMO it is time to face the reality leaf fans: TB lost that series more than Toronto won it. They outplayed you in almost every game yet continued to shoot themselves in the foot and injuries finally caught up with them. Florida took it to a whole other gear which is what cup contending teams do in the postseason. Leafs had no answer.

Congrats on their one series win but when the GM behaves in such a pathetic manner like he has all playoffs, makes them getting bounced even sweeter. Hopefully he gets fired in the coming days.

Noted appreciation but your Leafs still had no response for Gudas or Bennett running around hitting everyone.

I saw Tavares get smoked in both TB and FLA series and nobody came to defend him.

This has been a problem since Dubas came in as GM.
