He only faced 8 shots. Hardly indicative of how he would have done the rest of the game. What we do know though is he had a below .900sv% in the 2 previous games against us and has a career sv% of .902 in the playoffs

In comparison, Woll had a .930sv%, .960sv% and a .857sv% in his 3 games.

I don't think goaltending would have been the difference for you guys.

We'll never know. The Leafs obviously tightened up defensively when down 2-0. The Ekblad goal this game was a bad goal though.

The OT winner was also a bad goal because he lost track of the puck and covered literally no post so didn't even give himself the chance to get lucky.

It's like if Bob got injured and your backup came in and lost, doesn't mean Bob would also lose.

You’re talking like Samsonov was Price in net. Bob made the saves tonight, as did Woll. Does Samsonov make those same saves, to even get the game to OT? You never know..

Leafs should trade for Markstrom. Calgary has a goaltending dilemma with Wolf knocking at the door.
Not sure how they could fit him in but a Markstrom/Woll tandem would probably be dynamite for TO, even without Wolf in the mix after a bad year in Calgary Markstrom could use a change.

Auston Matthews was quiet in the series against Florida. Why?

I have been told he was either the best or second best player in the world?

Was it injuries? Lack of clutchness? Something else?

What stopped Auston?
People say a lot of things
You have to learn to think for yourself. It may have been any of those things or something else.

Samsonov was shutting out Florida with the Leafs up 1-0 in Game 3 when he got injured. Woll came in and allowed a goal right away for Florida to tie it.

Murray was injured at the start of the playoffs and round 1, he hasn't played a game in months - that is why they put Woll in who played more recently.

Woll was the better option than Murray, however - neither is their starting goalie.

How many teams win the Cup with their starting goalie injured? I'll wait. You're acting like every team is supposed to have 2 starters in net. Of course there will be a dropoff between the starter and backup.

Even Boston was scared to play Swayman until Game 7 even though Ullmark was allegedly injured. Edmonton keeps starts Skinner even when he got pulled 3x. Most teams don't have 2 starting goalies.
Samsonov isn’t the answer

Do you have any links to it as I don't recall it. Lots of penalties pointed out with 0 evidence it seems.

On the flip side:

Where was your same energy when the Florida player does this near the end of the third with no call?

thats just winning a puck battle in style.

Sorry that we don’t have a delusional fanbase creating gifs of every play and calling it suspendable like you do. Lmao and wanting that play at the end of regulation be a suspension. But again. Same energy on bunting when he got Reinhart late from behind and well after the play had passed.

As for the tkachuk play. You know exactly when it happened. The wrap around. It was so obvious TNT took a second to discuss how obvious of a penalty it was.

It's funny how the only team fanbases that have these "curses" or "refs are out to get us" mentality's" are usually the ones that are shit.

The Yankees don't have stories like that, the Red Wings don't have some Kerry Fraser story from 30 years ago, none of that. Hell even us Panthers had the whole "Trocheck was tripped" line from back in 2016.

Bottom line is that shit is for loser teams. We (Florida) still kinda are a loser team but I'm starting to realize that winners don't make excuses cause everyone's got one of those.
he was tripped

Toronto has the most disproportionate use of cap space when comparing dollars spent on forwards and defense of any playoff team. I guess we know what formula doesn't work.

Toronto didn't play that great in the Tampa series either, so this result is hardly a shocker against a hot opponent.

Keefe played his card much too conservative IMO. He should have played Nylander more, especially on PP1, but I guess it's hard to hurt Tavares or O'Reilly's feelings taking one of them off, or even one of Marner or Matthews.

So the leafs lost the series because they lost their starting backup goalie to injury, and the league conspires against then.

Not because their superstar forwards choked.

Makes sense.

So..... We wanted Florida so badly eh.... This is why you never cheer to play certain teams. not saying if Leafs fans didnt make this chant that the results would be different but gave them a reason to Want no to Need to beat us.
We just straight up were not good enough and Florida played one hell of a series and the best of luck to them moving forward

I wouldn't call Samsonov their back up or starting back up. the guy earned the role as starter and it was based off his play. I mean Murray didnt make it hard for him but let's not pretend that Samsonov had a horrible season, he did much better than people gave him credit for. Murray on the other hand was exactly what people said he was

I just hope that the heads will roll, this curse was fun for a long time and now.. I feel for you fans of Leafs. They need to shake things up.

I am so sorry for Dangle aswell. It was like cosmic justice that TML fans were cheering that they got FLA, you just knew what would happen.

Congrats Panthers fans, well deserved series win. When you play with that kind of effort good things tend to happen, best of luck the rest of the way. Your team has heart and a true competitive nature that you need to make a run for the cup.

Very down about the Leafs right now, not even sure what we do with this team at this point. Gonna be a long ass summer.:(

This is dedicated to all those Leafs fans (example: @SwissLeaf) who came into the FLA BOS post-series thread just to rub salt in the wound to Bruins fans. Karma is a b****, boys!
