If this was in America, it would be on a judges docket within months.

I do think that because of the 2026 date, it’s possible some players fold and settle. 2 years to wait could eat at these guys.
I'm more worried that something stupid happens by 2026 and they can't pursue charges anymore for some stupid reason.

Ahhhhh
Awesome question!!

A wee bit more cloudy than a top prospect not wanting to play there me thinks
That's different though in that a team ( i assume you're referring to Michkov?) does their own due dilligence directly with the player whereas a team purposely trading someone because of allegations should be required to disclose that info I would imagine.

If you saw your young daughter dead drunk, alone, walking into a hotel room with 8 young athletes, what are your thoughts? If you're not concerned that she might be walking right into a lion's den, i dunno what to tell you.

There's just too many risk factors at play in this situation that you can't ignore. Exposing yourself to danger is a thing.
The texts that were released said that she went back with him, and was fine with him, then he brought in the others. She didn't go back with 8 guys.

Say you got too drunk and then got sexually assaulted by a man much larger than yourself. How would you react to being told "well maybe you shouldn't have gotten so drunk"?

Ruining these guys lives as adults for something they did as kids is wild to me
f*** off with that.

Are you really calling 18-19 year olds 'kids'... who don't know what's right from wrong???? Serious?
Yup. If they were kids and it was their first offense, we likely wouldn't know their names outside of speculation and they'd be covered by Young Offenders Act. I'm sure this poster will be lining up to protect the next 19 or 20-year-old who didn't play for Hockey Canada.

I was being a smart ass! Referring to Gautheir situation. This stinks if Hart was indeed on the block.

in that aspect and considering their demo's I do agree that in the court of public opinion, they are starting out in a bad spot.
The current media does subconsciously see race and privilege in everything.
These guys can afford the best defence attorneys in Ontario. There line-up of attorney's is the whose who of Toronto defense attorneys. I'm sure whatever systemic bias you believe they are victims of is more than compensated for by not having some overworked public defender handling their case.

I didn't see this myself, but I read on a message board that a couple nights after Dube filed for leave of absence due to mental illness, the Flames broadcast crew were patting their own backs (the Flames) and complimenting the Flames for being so great with how they handle Mental illness with the Kylington AND Dube situations. Like seriously?

Yes. I know I'm an Oil fan but they did pedestal themselves

I mean how many people have the privilege of Hockey Canada settling for them?
As an example of public opinion being biased using facebook, 0 issues discussing this case but discussing a much worse case in England where Islamic migrants raped a pre teen gets you labeled an Islamaphobe or racist.
However recognizing media bias doesn't mean support for these guys, it just means you understand why the articles will be presented in the way they are

reportedly hockey canada was already talking with her and trying to convince her on certain topics to change parts of her story, They paid for it to go away and bought her silence---when did that start
Ever since since Trever Bauer was setup I will hold judgement till I hear the facts.
The fact they gave hush money doesn't equate to rape,
The world we live in today with guilt automatically assumed and the death of innocent until proven otherwise, paying someone off is easier than going public.

And I'm sorry if this sounds insensitive but doesn't the fact that she pursued money over getting justice and keeping these guys from doing it to another girl, at the very least paint her in a questionable light?

Seems to me I'd want them punished so no other girl would get assaulted.
