I wonder why everyone talks like they are proven guilty already
Civil trials are one thing.

But for the London Police and the ONT courts to charge these guys after so many years is another all together. It's hard for a great many people to logically look at the situation and not believe that the ONT crown prosecutors are assured they can successfully argue convictions.

It's not that the DNA is non-binding - it still probably does continue to apply (I mean - you'd need to actually get a copy of it and read it to know for sure)

But rather - if you're issued a subpoena and ordered to come to court and tell the truth, you can not rely on an NDA to refuse to answer questions. I'm pretty sure an NDA also can't prevent you from talking with the police (not an issue I've ever researched).

Makes sense - I just assumed it would be non-valid, as if you're asked to tell the truth by the crown, then obeying that nda and not telling the truth like required by the NDA is now a contract term that isn't legal and would thus be unenforceable.

I guess functionally it's the same either way.

This is not gang rape but sexual assault.

It could have happened to me. When I was 20, a student, I tried very daring things to have sex.

The line between successful seduction and sexual assault can be extremely light.
No means no.

Don't mess with drunk girls.

So long as you follow those two basic rules assault should never be an issue.

Just saying.

Did I miss something? Has their guilt already been proven?
I'm shocked how easy it is for everyone to call these guys rapists even before a court decision. I hope your son doesn’t end up in a situation where he has sex with a girl and then she reports rape and the whole world points a finger at him and calls him rapist.

If you saw your young daughter dead drunk, alone, walking into a hotel room with 8 young athletes, what are your thoughts? If you're not concerned that she might be walking right into a lion's den, i dunno what to tell you.

There's just too many risk factors at play in this situation that you can't ignore. Exposing yourself to danger is a thing.

This is a terrible libel against every young athlete who is NOT about to go on trial for gang rape.

Besides that, run-of-the-mill victim blaming.

Congrats.

Hey now it wasn't all sex fiend stuff, they also allegedly brandished golf clubs and stopped her from leaving until she recorded a video saying she consented. 😬
Oh my word if that's true.

Idk if this is worse then Vince McMahon or on the same level.....

As an example of public opinion being biased using facebook, 0 issues discussing this case but discussing a much worse case in England where Islamic migrants raped a pre teen gets you labeled an Islamaphobe or racist.
However recognizing media bias doesn't mean support for these guys, it just means you understand why the articles will be presented in the way they are
But who cares about that, I'm sure the Daily Mail and other newspapers have covered that. Other issues in society doesn't lessen what hockey players do.

The civil suit is what scares me the most. You have to think the defense will try and twist that. Try to use that to their advantage in court to defame the victim
Rightfully so. If these guys are guilty, her silence could have led to other women getting assaulted.
The fact you are scared is because you know that going for money not charges at the very least possibly makes this a Bauer situation.

The line isn't extremely light at all. It's pretty black and white frankly - did you ask and they also said yes excitedly? Then it's not sexual assault. Did you not ask, or if you did ask did they say no, or they weren't excited about it? It's sexual assault.
