Impressive talent for sure. However the kid just turned 18 and played like ~40 games last year. Guaranteed he will run out of gas with the big club.

9 games would be good though. Keep the flow of the pre-season going and gain some confidence.

He impressed me in the 2 games against the Flyers. Puck seemed to follow him around. Also took a really big open ice hit from Gudas....and did not shy away from the play the rest of the game.

He is so young and talented. Great pick.

You'd think after Gudas nearly put Vesey through the ice last year in the preseason that he'd let up on a guy from Czech Republic. Nope.

I find it amazing how he's gonna debut in the NHL not even six months after he got a HFboards thread. And hfboards isn't important, its just amazing that this guy was not really on the first round radar until really late last season, and now he's gonna start in the NHL.

Kind of speaks [in a way] to how he fell based on lack of scouting [compared to other regions and players].

I have to admit I didn't expect this by any means. Guy who turned 18 not even month ago will probably start in first or second Rangers line as a center. That's quite big for him, Zlin and czech hockey overall.

I watched quite a lot of preseason games and what differs him from other czechs battling for this position imo (Necas, Nosek, Kampf) is, except his talent, is chemistry with linemates and willing to shoot. Sure Nosek and Kampf are not even close to him talent wise, but they just preparing chances which nobody capitalized. Chytil looks more in it in all aspects. If he dont get tired like he looked in second game against Flyers and get some special treatment from linemates and coaches he can handle entire season. But still that center position, I can not believe it:)

Probably going to go back to his team in the Czech Republic. He didn't play well in the first game, limited minutes in game two and didn't play in game 3.

He doesn't look ready, although he's not gotten much of a chance so far. Probably the right decision to send him back.

He got less than 5 mins in game 2 iirc and was a scratch today. First game he was shaky but I'm not even worried about that, it's his first regular season game in the NHL I don't think anyone expected him to jump in there and play like he did in the preseason (which he was outstanding in.) I would've liked to see him at least get a shot on the PP though over DD

There are some many simpletons in these forums... Everyone should just calm down. Chytil just get a taste of NHL thats all. It would be delusional to think that he can jump right away to top 6 role. He gets a hint of what it is and learn what he needs to improve (as for an example his english). He stays with Rags couple more games and goes to his home country for a season or two for gaining more power and seasoning.

But AV.

I completely agree, barely got a chance and I would give him the 9 regardless.

He should be taking Desharnais's spot on the PP, although it's not like that unit sees the ice all that much.

Chytil doesn't have to be sent away right now. Maybe he plays 9 games until middle of november then goes back to czech to prep for world juniors.

Only late first rounder in recent memory with a small build who I can remember stepping into the NHL and succeeding right away is David Pastrnak and I still don't know how scouts got that one so wrong (and it was plainly evident so quickly). Chytil looks promising, let him develop in Europe and hope he keeps improving and comes back stronger next year

He's 6'2 and 202 pounds

He's 6'2 and 202 pounds

I was shocked by that too recently. Most draft publications had him as 6'0 or 6'1 and anywhere between 175-185... Then a read a recent article by a Rangers writer that said 6'2 and 202, and sure enough that info was correct. I wonder if that's part of the reason that most rankings had him in the 2nd round instead of first. And I wonder how many NHL teams had similar incorrect information?

NHL teams had good info, think he was close to 6'2 and 190-195 lbs at the combine.

No, he shouldn't. He looked lost nearly every minute he played while he was up. I am not the biggest AV fan but this is the right move by AV and shows how little you understand about coaching and player development.

I'm sure the NYR coaching staff know a lot more than we do. Fans generally need the 9 NHL games to see if a prospect is ready or not. NHL teams have waayyyy more ways to determine this than just the first 9 games. It's not like the only time you can determine if a player is ready is by playing them in games. Far from it.

This seems fine, provided he get ample time in Hartford. AHL is an actual development league, as opposed to the NHL.

Pretty obvious he wasn't ready. Think him making the team was just the rangers media hype train. Still a fine prospect but not the type that plays in the NHL at 18

Let me remind you he turned 18 a month ago. He would be a 2018 draftee if he was a couple of weeks younger.

Um...you clearly did not watch the Ranger's preseason at all. He was VERY impressive in the games he played in.

Hype train? If that were the case then why did the 7th overall pick get sent back to Sweden and the 21st overall pick stayed?

Oooo I get it bc he was better than another 18 year old he was ready for the NHL. Bringing up that he made it over lias is completley irrelevant if you look at how he played/ where he is now. Chytil was overhyped by the usual and sent down after 15 minutes of ice time. He's clearly not close to ready atm

It's really not a knock on him, most 18 year olds aren't

Interesting move by the Rangers. It does make some sense especially if they're still deciding whether to keep him or send him back to Czechia. In the meantime he gets the chance to improve his language and get used to the NA game.
No need to rush the kid IMO.
