This my view of him:
He is a future top-line player that still needs a year in the AHL to learn the rougher sides of the game, work on sharpening his shot and stick-handling and putting on muscle.
He is lankier than Pasternak or Nylander - even though just as talented as them - so he will take more time to mature, but not a lot more: a single season is nothing.
Quite quickly, by age 20 during the 2019-2020 season I expect about 40 points per season and a jump to PPG by 2020 seems probable if not likely.
All-in-all, he is the 1st ine center that Ranger fans and organisation have been waiting for. No clear deficiencies but also not a superstar. A modern day Pat LaFontaine.
His play in all zones will improve as he grows stronger and becomes more resistant to heavy hits and scary stuff in the NA hockey.
The key is not to sacrifice his speed as he does so, because he is fast enough for a high-end NHL player but not a speed-demon.
Time under tension in the AHL will also eliminate the hesitations and dumb plays that occur time to time due to lack of experience.
A top 10 NHL prospect among those drafted by any team. High-end PPG talent without being an incredible superstar - ideal for the parity reflected in modern NHL standings and scoring tables.
