I don't see a PPG talent but I can see a 1C who's solid at both ends and capable of 65 ish points a year. Chytil is a monster and is really underrated, people are looking too much into his "poor" WJC performance (4 points in 7 games) where he just came back from a bad injury and suffered like 3 more minor ones. I don't get how you can possibly rank Necas over him like a lot do. 18 points in 22 AHL games with 0 help, Hartford is a mess. He's an all around player with flash, it's hard to think of a comparable. Chytil is also 6'3/6'2 202 pounds. I really don't understand why he isn't rated higher by people
Necas looked like a future superstar at the WJC, Chytil started out well but faded as the tournament went (the minor injuries likely played a role in that). Given for many people it was the only they have seen of them, not surprised Necas is ranked higher.

Yeah true, I'm sure like 10% of people on here have seen both play away from WJC and it made them vote Necas. I'm a fan of both though and I wouldn't be surprised to see both end up as 1C's honestly

Necas also played first PP with Zadina.

I expect Chytil to be a first liner. I think its possible he could be a PPG all situations center, but that would require some further development. While Chytil is skilled, he doesn't have incredible skill. I think he makes some flashy plays at times that most top 6 forwards can make, but he's not a threat to walk a player on every shift. I also don't think his shot is that good. He has good hockey sense and he's a good playmaker. Is he elite in either area? I'm not sure.

But he's a big center, 6'3 and over 200 pounds, who skates really well, and has at least above average playmaking, puck handling and hockey sense. I think the defensive play will come with time. He was one of the youngest players in the 2017 draft. Can he improve his shot and go from good to great in some of those areas I named?

The crazy thing is that he’s great defensively as well, Hartford is hard af to watch but I’ve caught a couple games and he was really good defensively

Its hard to come up with a great Chytil comparison. He says he's like Matthews, but I don't see it. Matthews is a different type of skater. Matthews is a very effective skater, but he doesn't have the explosiveness that Chytil has, and he's way more shoot-first than Chytil.

I would say he's a poor man's Eichel. Its the same type of skating, playmaking, size, puck skills, ability to protect the puck. He doesn't have Eichel's shooting ability, but I'll take Eichel without the shot.

Here was a goal Chytil scored the other day.

I do wonder with the pads nowadays how easy that goal would be to score on an NHL goalie.

Perhaps. I still think Tolvanen, maybe Yamamoto too
I like Chytil over Tolvanen and I think he’s way above Yamamoto. Don’t get me wrong both players will be good-great though. People laughed when Rangers picked up Chytil at 21 (and Lias at 7) and I do remember a few saying he should not have gone 1st round. At the time of the draft a lot said the Rangers lost the draft or messed it up for themselves, it’s starting to look like we had one of the best drafts.

Turning 18 just before the start of the season and putting up nearly a point per game (wouldn't be surprised if he hits a point per game before the end of the season) as the youngest player in the AHL is a very very intriguing thing.

Quite difficult to directly compare him to other guys in his draft class that are still playing in juniors, or even the KHL. They could be better...but if Chytil's game continues to develop and get better as you'd generally expect for an 18 year old, then his ceiling could be a lot higher than people probably thought.

Going to be interesting for sure

I liked the Chytil pick by the Rangers, but thought Anderson was taken 4-5 spots too high.

Anyways, Chytil is a beast.

I was kinda pissed at first with the Lias pick as I wanted Mittelstadt but Lias was an intriguing player. I’m pretty happy with Lias and he has 6 points in 7 games (I think?) in the AHL so far
