The US team roster is still better than almost any NHL roster. Even if they have bad team selection and aren't as good as the Canadian roster, a team that good is capable of beating anyone on their day. The only ones who thought they'd get blown out are either hockey noobs who also think that Pittsburgh will beat Edmonton or Vancouver 5-0 or they're overly emotional about the American team selection. I'd be curious how they do without Jack Johnson in the lineup and if a few guys like Pacioretty get going plus their play against the fast NA team if they meet.

I enjoyed the older playoff PGT's, they had a lot of good analysis, wtf is this stuff that contributes nothing to the discussion?

surprised that callahan didn't make the team  :sarcasm:

He would have been out there tonight if he didn't have to back out because of an injury and thankfully they got a skilled player in Palmieri to replace him.

This usa roster would be far and away the best team in the nhl.

Hey these games are emmotional and I don't mean all Canadians but there's been some really unnecessary comments that my post was directed at, not you because you obviously get it. It's just frustrating when you can't be proud of your team and have losses from six years ago throw in your face. Best of luck to you.

best of luck to you as well but to paraphrase Chris Lee I can only comment on what I see.

I'm seeing stuff like 'they said we had no chance' 'they said we had no offense' and 'in your face' and 'bappita bappita even Canada's C team would steamroll everyone they said bappita bappita' even though any hoser over 10 would remember some very tense moments squeaking out 1-0 wins in international tourneys.

Makes me go full Bryzgalov. Is only exhibition!

anyway congrats to the USA tonight. And stay classy.

I don't see the U.S. beating Canada in Toronto. Plus by than, Price will have shaken Off the rust. Torts style of collapsing around the net and blocking shots has gotten old for me and will get someone seriously hurt. It's like watching the Rangers when he was there.

That style may work here though.

It's a team built to play it tough and nasty but with way more skill to work with then a usual Torts coached team.

Torts usually doesn't have a guy like Patty Kane to work with, I said in the beginning of this thread we would have to keep an eye on that guy and I was right.

I also said to all the naysayers who were ******** on the U.S team about how their team had no chance early on in the thread that they would be fine. They were fine!!

Canada has a lot to improve (eliminate turnovers in the middle of the ice because of casual play, soft passes, and too much reaching with their sticks), and yet they win that type of game 80% of time given the shots, possession, and scoring chances. Congrats to the US for capitalizing on a poor finish to the 1st by Canada as that was the difference in the game.

Ice was horrible in Columbus and really mucked the game up, which favored the US style of game. Hopefully it should be better going forward when the tournament shifts to arena's that are better prepared for games in September.

That was driving me nuts tonight.

Gotta eliminate it.

I wish we could play the damn thing now.

I can only lace them up on the outdoor rinks now jj :).

God I love hockey. It's been an important part of both of our lives since we were kids.

What a ridiculous excuse, these are all NHL players they are used to playing on bad ice all the time.

What an awesome two days of hockey. This pace is incredible.

I'll be ready for battle tomorrow. That GDT is going to be savage. The hate is real, the war is on.

:nod::nod::nod::nod:

Wasn't overly hyped about tourney to begin with. However after a very "colorful" exhibition game tonight south of the border all I can say is that I'm now officially on board. I'll be waiting for you Muricans when you come to Toronto in a few days!! :snide:

After all we aren't the Gold Medal Champs for nothing. Canada will be fine, we just need to tune up a wee bit! ;)

Every time they are losing.

Nothing is as low as kneeing an 18yo kid due to losing a game. What's even more obnoxious is that many defended Perry's stunt by saying that hockey is rough. Yeah, it is, but you don't pull off cheap shots like that. That's just low and tasteless, especially from a captain.
