Woah woah woah....C'mon now man. This was a decent game, but let's be honest it was quite sloppy at times. If that's the best Hockey you've ever seen then I feel sorry for you.

A little sloppy yes . But I think I would rank that as more entertaining/ intense than any game I watched in the playoffs last year.

Crazy good for an exhibition game. And I cheer for the team that lost.

I don't know what I expected but I certainly did not expect this. Great intensity and gritty play. A couple of dirtyish hits and good scrums. And it was the first meaningless exhibition game before the greatest meaningless gimmick exhibition tourney of all times. Wow.

I also love how a lot of Canadian fans are already getting riled up. And I mean it in a positive sense. This might turn out a fun ride after all.

Great game. Way better then expected. Price looked rusty as expected. Marchand was probably Canada's best player tonight.

I think Canada was a bit unprepared for how serious USA was showing up for this 1st exhibition. Somewhat embarrassing how hard USA was trying but it sets the tone early I'm sure there will be a response. The Oshie hit on Couture, that was just wrong. Take it easy bro, it's not the SC Final.

Canada looked almost too big and slow because of it. Getzlaf, Weber, Thornton, Pietreangelo, even Seguin were somewhat dumpy. I think Getzlaf and Perry's best days are behind them, it isn't 2010. Team needs to get quicker and more scrappy.

They said this was for the fans man it's so true. Hockey in early September. The real treat is going to be watching how abused and taken advantage of the "non-star" NHL players are about to be 4 weeks from now. A tournament like this is going to give our best players a huge jump-start.

Up next is Finland-Sweden, that should be a nice friendly game!

Would rather have my teams players injured now vs in the middle of the season like they would be for the olympics.

This does seem like it could get pretty violent with usa playing canada at least 2 more times tho.

It was more intense than Olympic hockey.

It was fast.

It was good hockey.

I'm as surprised as anyone.

Man people have short memories. It was intense but it was sloppy and uneven, do people not remember stuff like Canada vs Russia at the 2010 Olympics?

USA vs Canada always brings the heat, I'm more interested in North America vs one of these teams.

terrible example, the Russians were terrible in that game.

is tomorrows game really not on tv in the US?

Still not really seeing why this is surprising. ESPN has other much bigger contracts which already had events on these days and it's just an exhibition.

Just about everyone who has ESPN on their cable package can get ESPN3/WatchEspn and watch it on the stream.

Game was intense for a pre-tournament matchup.

It'll only get better with a minimum of two more games between them. I expect Canada to dial it in with the home crowd.

Oshie got a bit carried away with the Couture hit though. Relax man.

Just Oshie? Kesler, and many others were hitting like crazy. Three or four real scrums too.

Meh, the Kesler hit was nothing. Couture was rammed blindside with his head lowered, that was pretty stupid. Agree those scrums were for real I'm surprised to see such aggression right off the bat. Should make for a good tourney!

It's embarrassing that the USA tried? Come on man that's a rediculous statement. You have to actually play the game to get in sync and get back in the groove after time off. I've played baseball for 18 years and coached ever since I stopped due to a back injury that landed me on disability and I have played and coached the same in Allstar games as I have playoff games. I was even in a bench clearing brawl in am Allstar game once because our pitcher retaliated for our guy getting hit in the head.

Oshi clearly hit couture in the head but that was not an intended hit to say he was dirty. It was a bad hit but he didn't run the guy or go after him unnecessarily in an exhibition it was just an awkward hit. And this part not being about you but to everyone do people actually think the Kesler hit was dirty? Like if captain intangible Toews makes that hit do the fans still have that reaction? Because weber clearly saw Kesler and chose to take that hit I hear one of the people on ESPN (I wasnt watching to the TV at this point of intermission not watching so I'm not sure who said it i just keep own it was a former player) say that weber deserved a penalty for allowing that to happen jokingly of course but also said the Kesler hit wasn't an issue and the oshi hit was a much bigger issue.

Also why were people angry about the power play the US got from that? Kesler was jumped by both toews and weber after that and no other USA player got involved like that. I saw many fans complaining get about that but it's common sense.

Lastly for fans of both teams... why is everyone ******** on guys like JMFJ and ablkator (sp?) Being picked? It is possible to win with 10 Cs playing wing like Canada but it is also possible and smart to pick teams like USA has and pick for roles. Guys used to playing 1c and being captain of their team are capable of playing 4LW but might not be as effective. JMFJ was getting praise all night and Ablkator was extremely effective at keeping the Canadians off their game noticeably Getz.

I guess good game by both teams extremely entertaining and the kids do of game I like to watch. Torts has been my favorite coach since I started watching in the early 2000s and I love everything his blue collar style and hard hitting all or nothing teams. I just wish that for all of the hate people were giving Kesler or oshi or Backes that someone would mention the garbage Crosby was doing and weber basically jumping a guy in the first. I watch from a perspective where I hold everyone accountable and even though I understand everyone will be a Homer or bias that more people would be vocal about some things. Can't wait for today's game. Hope for a hard hitting for game but for everyone to to come healthy.

Great game, however Thornton was an absolute disaster making that TC selection look stupid now.

America (specifically Torts) is going to seriously regret how they handled that game, because they probably just woke the bear.

Get ready for some boring, effective hockey from Canada.

I somewhat agree.
I know the amerks want to send a message but save that game for when it counts.
I thought Canada played well enough to win and goaltending decided the outcome, not the bashing and hitting from behind. This is a Torts team. Nothing new here.
