Well, that game got me interested in this thing. That was fun

For sure 3 out of the 4 games I have watched have been really good games NA vs Europe (amazing speed and skill from team N.A) Can vs USA (All out war=awesome hockey!!!) Rus vs Chk (good speed exciting) and the Swe vs Fin game was still good but not the same as the other 3

I do wonder if the NHL is going to ask Babs and Torts to ease up a bit for today's game.

Woah woah woah....C'mon now man. This was a decent game, but let's be honest it was quite sloppy at times. If that's the best Hockey you've ever seen then I feel sorry for you.

I will say that was the best exhibition game I've ever seen.

Price looked very solid for his first game in 9 months,Price won Canada the Gold Medal so he is a proven Champion.

Wow. Props to those two teams for actually trying.

Didn't see that happening even in the real games. Maybe the players can save this tournament despite bettman and company's attempt to make it lame.

It is an exhibition game does not count ...Holtby has ...ZERO...chance to be the starter ....we all saw him play in last's year's playoffs...AWFUL...Price is a proven CHAMPION....gold medal winner...Holtby ...not so much.

They need to fire Babcock 6 years in a row could not get the Wings past the 2nd round and last year of course he finished dead last...not good.

Ottawa you better tear the ****ing roof off that place tonight.

Well all except for the shiny gold medal and cup ring he has. Stop it. And everyone can cut the crap on Price too. I have confidence in any of the Canadian kickers. I also think the US has poked the bear and there will be a response.

I'm pretty upset that team USA was out there playing so chippy and physical. Sure, it probably helps them play better and get back into the game after the offseason, but I dont want to see guys getting hurt from this tournament before the season starts.

But I suppose there's no getting around it, it's hockey afterall

You said it. Players want to win. Simple as that, if you are going to play half-assed - dont play at all.

The stubbornness of Babcock is really starting to frustrate me. This lineup could so use Letang or even Subban. I consider Letang a very similar player to Keith, a smaller d who thinks the game really well and makes the right play quickly most of the time. Muzzin has no business being on the team and Pie hasn't been impressive for quite some time now.

Even with the line combos yesterday, no experimentation whatsoever despite only the Crosby line being good. I thought Bergeron, Crosby, Doughty, Duchene had good games. Guys like Seguin, Toews, Tavares need to be better. Toews should be centering a shut down line, Giroux needs a sniper on his line. Hopefully we see Babcock try some different combos today. Also wasn't pleased at being roughed up in yesterday's game. Someone like Perry or even Lucic would've helped bring a bit more toughness in the lineup.

How relevant this tourney is has been debated, both sides having valid points. Let's just enjoy the great hockey on display as its a rare treat in September. The Intensity has been awesome and it's only gonna get better.

"Omg I'm never gonna watch this cash grab, Team NA and Yurop are stupid, the integrity of the game, buttman."

"Huh wow this tournament isn't bad."

"**** I can't wait for the next game tomorrow ****ing blow the roof off Ottawa boys let's ****ing gooooo!!!!"

:)

Its the 14th time you say that in this thread, we got it, You hate MTL and Price.

Price had a bad game after been at rest for the last 10 months..... Next game he will already be way better.

Lots of divergent views out there about the tournament.

If you take a look at how much the game has grown the past 20 years, you will see, that Gary Bettman, is probably the greatest, commissioner, that the NHL has had.

What's especially funny about all this and the much-talked left-right pairings is that Canada has a right-right pairing anyway.

Seriously, Muzzin and Bouwmeester should not be in the team. Imagine Letang and Subban instead, there would be so much more offensive threat. It doesn't help that Pietrangelo has been crap, too.

I'm glad that I can enjoy singular games, singular tourneys, and just watch hockey without getting caught up in sweeping, emotional generalizations about the state of the game, which country "owns" hockey, or whose fans/teams deserve something.

I know that when Team USA basketball loses, it means some other team played better and possibly other countries are progressing in the game. It doesn't mean anything about the history or the future of Team USA, the coach, the fans, or the waterboy. Even if it did I wouldn't care, because no country "owns" a game and every country out there has to earn what they get every time they play.

It's amazing to me how some fans get so swept over by these wide-ranging thoughts from one game. It can't just be about the game, it has to be about x, y, and z as well. Oh the drama of over-blown bragging rights...spare me.

We won't have Price in net tonight, so we'll actually have a chance to win.

Price wasn't at his best, but lets not pretend Price played that poorly against the americans. He still wasn't beaten cleanly once.

He had a deflection, a jammed puck at the side of the net, and a rebound he should have contained/steered to the corner.

Not like he was flopping around and letting everything by him.

Hoping Price gets the start, Holtby is great, but we all know Price is a gold medal champ.

That was a better game then I thought it would be. Thought it would be more all-star game-esque, but both teams played hard. Not surprised that some summer rust showed up on occasion.

Torts wants a tough style, but he knows team USA can't win going to the penalty box, so I look for more discipline from these guys going forward.

Very surprised the game was a near sell-out. With OSU, and high school football in full swing, I was a bit worried that the crowd would be disappointing. They get props for bringing their A game as well.

Fun to watch hockey this early.
