Yep, 100%. There will always be a subset of fans who are just content that the team is regularly competitive. And I get that, if you're happy with that then good on you, sincerely. But IDK, I've wanted more out of this core, because they've been more than capable of it and it just hasn't been delivered. Is that greedy? Maybe. But you don't get players of the calibre of Bergeron, Chara, Rask etc. at the same time very often, so I feel you have to cash in as much as possible when you do. And that just hasn't happened.

The number one reason for that goes back to the way the Jacobs family runs this franchise. Regular profits before ultimate success. Been that way for 45 years. You can look at all of Sweeney's failings, and you'll find plenty, but in the end he's just doing what his bosses want - don't bet the house in any one season, always make sure you're keeping the pieces intact to keep the team competitive and playoff-bound.

Question now is, is one-and-done enough? First time they've exited this early since the years they missed altogether. Will that convince the Jacobs that change is needed, or are they content with that? Time will tell.
I wonder if Jacobs truly understands that this is 2022.

It’s a 32 team league, meaning half of the teams DNQ for the playoffs.

They had some lean years 2005-2007.
The barn was half empty,

Will they be willing to endure say 4 years of that?

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
Welp, it’s been fun guys.

Was a good series overall, hurricanes have a ton of talent, and I think Boston playing them literally to the finals seconds is a tribute to the core Boston has had for the Bergeron years. Unfortunately Boston seemed to lack the killer instinct at times. Will be interesting to see what changes are made.

Thanks everyone for allowing me join in for the playoff run and being so welcoming. Wishing you guys a good offseason and hoping anaheim
Hits it out of the park with your 1st :). I’m sure I’ll stop by occasionally to check in on lindholm, eastern conference teams are easier for me to watch anyway.

And I’ll leave you with a GO YANKEES! 😈
Thanks for being here and for your input! Really looking forward to McAvoy and Hammer developing into one of the, if not the, elite 1st-pairing D in the league (just not against Anaheim, of course ;)

DK is one of my favorite Bruins players all time. if he were to come back i would love it but would also want a true top 6 C brought in. Bergy-FA-DK down the middle 1 to 3 would be killer

It’s amazing how the game went from what? 6 penalties called in the first to 1 the rest of the game. Really watering down the product NHL..

Bs best guys didn’t show up enough. Rough go. Pasta has to be hurt cause man he just wasn’t pasta.

Really hope this isn’t it for Bergy.

Hate this.

I am hoping for a house cleaning with Bruce staying, but it does not work that way. ...I am pretty sure Bergy retires, and they bring back Krejci in one of their patented meaningless cosmetic moves.

I do not think Trotz is coming but is an outside possibility. It will be some dunderhead like Milbury or the guy the Isles had a few years ago.

Thank you for everything Bergy!!
Exactly they’re always a step behind with they’re moves. All those defenseman drafted and we still had to pickup a top pairing d at the deadline. No 2nd line center and on and on

Word is Bergy and Marchand wanted to run it back for one last crack at the ether thing after last season’s loss to the Isles, right?

Well, they tried.

I’d have taken it down to the studs a year early. They waited a year longer.

Probably won’t matter in the long run.

This isn’t the 21 team format that they made the playoffs every year under.

Look at the Red Wings.

As @Gee Wally has said, some of you have not been around for some of the lean years.

We’ve gone from being nostalgic about the 1980s to the 1990s lately.

Remember the mid-late 90s Bruins? They may be coming back.
Sadly, 1990’s Bruins hockey is coming. Some great players on this team, but dearth of centers and largely bare prospect cupboard is a recipe for mediocrity.

I remember the Bruins 1990’s well. Too well. Gonna have to buckle in folks. Road’s gonna be bumpy and some of you won’t make it.

I'll take dk in heartbeat he has still has 2 yrs solid hockey left. Excited .
Not me. That ship has sailed.

I still think Bergy comes back for a year.

It is disappointing but I never thought they had a chance at the cup this year

It was fun from Jan until the playoffs. We had fun at the games.

I hope they fill the holes

Chokey organization.

Makes me love and appreciate the one Cup I’ve seen in my lifetime all the more.

But rooting for this organization is one root canal after another.

The fact that they had Bergeron, Pastrnak, and Marchand locked up on the deals they had them on and failed to fill out the rest of the forward lines adequately year after year is a failure of inexcusable proportions.

Tim Thomas should be cherished for willing this sackless organization to a cup.

Really? You didn't see this happening since last summer? Also, everything that dogged them all year, last fews years actually, was on full display today. They can't score, can't clear, and they can't hit. If Pasta isn't lighting up the scoresheet or Marchand isn't singlehandedly dragging them across the finish line they simply can't win. "Good effort" sure. That's good enough is it?
End of an era. Time to blow it up and start over.

We need more speed and more brawn even if Bergie DOESN'T leave.

How is that going to happen? I think we're in for a few years of drought...

It's interesting. Bruins fans have had it good for 15 years. Even the years they didn't qualify, they were battling for it until late in the season. If the team was to go through another genuine lean patch while they rebuild, will the fans keep filling the Garden? Jacobs seems to think not, and probably assumes we'll go back to those dark days in the early 00s. I genuinely don't know whether or not he's right.

Jacobs doesn’t give a shit about this team all he cares about is his hotdogs and what not. I’ve hated that guy since he refused to ever get Bourque help when there was no cap. F&&@ him and his stuttering kid.

I think Trotz is a great coach...that being said I dont want to watch his boring brand of hockey. I like Bruce, get him better pieces and this team can do something.
